It would be perfect, however if Broner jumps to 140 because Ricky takes the Scotty fight its a whole new situation and I reckon the flak Ricky would then receive would be more than justified as it would look as though he'd avoided Broner 3 times by then.
I seriously doubt that there is any such ploy to lure Broner over by announcing a possible Harrison fight. They've wanted that fight since he returned to Scotland as it's a cash cow and a low risk fight for Burns. There's no way GBP and Broner are going to suddenly panic and start throwing money at Burns because he has a potential fight with an ex FW champ that's spent the last few years in jail and has an alcohol problem. They're more likely to just forget Burns and say "We offered them the fight they didn't take it now we're moving up in weight" and that's that. Broner doesn't really need Ricky Burns in the grand scheme of things, it's not like he is a house hold name in the states even if he beats Vazquez.
Joke of a fight, It will make money for Harrison to go and get off his nut again, Scott harrison never to be seen boxing again.
To Ricky Burns, Alex Morrison, Frank, Boxnation, the arena that will host it in Scotland and sponsors. Basically everyone who's above the fans in order of priorities to all involved. As I said, I don't agree with it, but I can understand why it'd be an option they're looking at.
A lot of valid points made but quick question. What if Broner fights on Mayweather card May 4? That pretty much rules out Burns-Broner to year end so a summer fight would fill the gap. If Ricky went Vasquez, Harrison, Broner nobody could complain. For the record. Harrison doesn't deserve the fight, but it would be a stay busy money maker with Broner later in year. Broner can change plans by not fighting May 4, but to my knowledge, he'll fight on that date. Both have to win next fights anyway
In terms of Ricky wanting respect its a shocking fight, in terms of money and it being **** easy, its a good fight for Ricky.
If he is in need of a fight in the summer and derry beats crolla (i know its a big if) that would be a good fight and he would be alot more deserving than harrison for a title shot.
Just look at reaction in here on this. I said a while back, I'm not interested in the Vazquez fight as such, its a fight Ricky Burns SHOULD be involved in. He is finally doing something he should be doing, what interests me more, is the fight that is going to follow that. Will he remain at the level, or will they drop back down? If this happens in the summer following Vazquez (if Ricky wins) then we all know what step this is. It certainly aint forward. I think its time someone asks Ricky Burns point blank, do you want the Broner fight or not? Or is it a case of delaying the fight and fighting at a low level for the foreseeable future until management wants to take the risk? Is this all management, or are you raring to go? IMO they know the likelihood of that fight, is that Ricky is going to get beat. Therefore aren't rushing into it and slowing Ricky down. Losing at this moment in time to Broner could be disastrous for the career. So IMO its a case of them ignoring the fight until they are willing to take the risk when the risk is not going to do as much damage as it would now if Ricky loses to Broner. So we could be seeing more of these domestic scraps yet after Vazquez!
If Burns beats Vazquez would the WBO+IBF even sanction this as a title fight as Harrison has done nothing to deserve a title fight recently just in pure boxing terms never mind his outside the ring problems.
