Will JDS ever win the title back?

I doubt he'll become champion again, personally I dont rate him.

 

He is gonna get his belt back from Cain

 

Cain said he wasn't 100% healthy in their 1st fight. He made me a believer when he won the rematch. JDS said he wasn't in top shape when he lost. I'd like to give him the benefit of doubt.

 

JDS actually had surgery after his first fight so he was injured as well. He will be champ again and i take him over Cain in the rubber match.

He was taken down like 20 times in the 2nd fight, but only because he scrambled to his feet every time. He is hard as **** to keep down and if he would have ripped a combo every time he stood up he would have had a real chance of icing Cain at some point during that long fight. He actually said in an interview that he was too worried about the takedowns and that he didnt keep his hands up to strike because he wanted to be ready to stuff the TD's, he became obsessed with the TD's and i think it was apparent. He has never fought a relentless TD artist like that before and he probably didn't even really know what to expect.

Around round 4 JDS actually shook the cobwebs and started to land some knees/standing elbows on Cain but he never strung them together. I swear to god i thought he was coming back for a little bit but that was wishful thinking, it was too little too late.

Cain is most likely going to do the EXACT strategy and JDS will be experienced and ready for it this time. JDS will not be shellshocked by the TD threat this time and expect to see some of those Cigano combo's in the rubber match.

 

He understimated Velasquez's stand up, got caught, never recovered!

One thinks that will not happen again

 

There is a pretty damn good chance that he will be.

Hilarious seeing how people talk about him after the second Cain fight.

 

He got exposed as a second rate bum in the rematch. Stick a fork in him - he's done

 

Don't see why not, he already has a win over the champion so its not like he doesn't have the talent to. First thing he needs to do is work on his stamina.

 

I have always rated JDS very high as well as Velazquez. They are the two top heavyweights in this generation. Velazquez seemed mentally unfocused in the first fight, I remember watching his eyes and movements before the bell and thinking he wasn't the same and probably in trouble. JDS wasn't at his peak in the second either. Physically but not mentally.

I didn't like JDS as a champ, he seemed way too comfortable at top with the belt. It's like he didn't know that you are the most marked man in the division. Probably enjoyed the media too much and loved a photo opportunity like a made man. Leading upto the Velazquez fight it seemed like he was promoting another fight, complete with prepared lines. but walking into the Cage you could see he knew he had a hungry pitbull in front of him and didn't want to stand up to it.

You can say I'm making up **** but when they fight again, JDS will be regenerated. velazquez learnt his lesson as well the first time around. two ****ing great heavyweights have another crack at each other, maybe one of the most brutal match up in MMA

 

I think he could, if they fought again JDS could KO him just like the first fight or it could be a repeat of last time. It'd be the same no matter how many times they fought I think.

 

Maybe. He knocked Cain out once. He could certainly do it again.

 

The division is deep but heavily flawed. Fighters can lose but questions remain on whether they can evolve, have the mentality to come back etc thus allowing them to rival the Golden era of Fedor CroCop Nog Barnett. Alot of poor chins, poor hearts or fighters lacking a vital dimension of modern MMA.

I believe the talent is certainly there, for JDS or others to operate at the highest level in this era or any other but Golden Eras aren't based on talent but more mental fortitude. Cains already shown it to come back and dominate, now its JDS and Overeems turn while Big Foot, Carwin etc work hard to join the pack.

 

I think he has a chance to beat Cain in the rematch. The fight was taken out of him in the 1st round, and he had no hope after that.

I think it shows more concern for Cain that he couldn't finish him after having him basically out for like 5 straight minutes. That entire 2nd round JDS was fighting 1/2 asleep. It was bizarre.
