Haye works with Ukrainian newspaper to help get a fight with Vitali

DAVID HAYE has thrown his (heavy)weight behind a campaign launched today to force Vitali Klitschko to fight him.

Ukrainian newspaper Vzglyad has organised a poll asking sports fans, “Do you want Vitali Klitschko to face David Haye?”


The three possible answers are — yes, beating Haye would be the perfect way for Vitali to retire; no, his brother Wladimir should fight Haye; and no, the risk of retiring in defeat is too high.


The Hayemaker has sent a special message urging the Ukrainian public to back option one and encourage Vitali to face his responsibilities as WBC champion.


Haye, 32, said: “This position carries the obligation to fight strong contenders who the public identify.


“That person is now me. You the Ukrainian sports fans know it, I know it, and Vitali knows it. You can help make this happen.
“Tell Vitali to stand up and represent his people, fight me and honour the wishes of the Ukrainian people who have helped make him the man that he is.
“I’m here, I’m ready and I’ll give the great people of the Ukraine what they want. Vitali must do this! Tell him with your votes!”


Vitali was elected as an MP in Ukraine in December.
Haye and Vzglyad hope the democratic will of the people will also shame him into taking the fight.

 

It's code for "Please Vitali, I want to retire too! Let's go out with a big pay cheque"

 

Does it count as "ducking" when you are nearly 42, slowing down, riddled with injuries, perhaps have less enthusiasm for the sport, a whole new career ahead of you, made all the money you really need AND have offered the guy a contract to fight you twice before (and he either rejected or pulled out)?

 

A question for CHEF should he look at this thread - is Vitali aware of all these tactics Haye is pulling to get a fight and all the talk Haye has been doing in the media in the last few months?
