Reliable sources on twitter claiming that there is no question about it unfortunately.

I saw him at Upton Park when he smashed Mitchell to pieces. Awesome fighter.

Enjoy your retirement Kats. Fought the best in their primes and gave a good account of himself but never quite made it. An all action excitement machine. The JMM and Guererro fights did him in IMO. He took a hell of alot of punishment in those 2 fights.
Hope he managed to save some money.

Damien Hooper has just blown up on Ausboxings facebook page when the reported that Katsidis is retiring and "Out of respect to Katsidis we will let him explain it to his fans."

    Hooper replied

"out of respect? what a ****in joke if i farted and it was on the news you would post it. either post the news or get a real job ya ***et"

That dude has some major issues.

Congratulations on a great career Mick, if more Australian fighters followed your path boxing would be in a lot better shape here. I still remember watching you fight as a 15/16 year old knocking out grown men, even back then you were destined to be a great fighter.

All the best for Kats in his retirement.........never ducked a serious challenge in the ring ever.......came up short in a few big name fights but boy he made them work for the win....that left hook he dropped Marquez with was a picture perfect shot that most wouldn't have got up from........but it was Marquez unfortunately.....no shame there.

    Hooper :-(

Anyhow, Katsidis has given his all in the ring & always took on the best available opponent.
Wish him a happy retirement & hopefully he can stay in the game in some capacity.
