I think Donaire is an excellent fighter, amazing physical attributes and punch resistence, however i personally don't think he's a special fighter like the majority believe. I think his amazing speed and power masks some fundamental flaws and his only defence is range and controlling his opponents output with fear of been sparked out!
Nonito. Unfortunately, I think it's a bad spot for Rigo. He hasn't had a sufficient intermediate level of pro experience. Shame he missed out on the Poon fight. I think if he had that, and then 1-2 against guys a notch bellow Nonito, he might have had a better chance. On the other hand, you never know. Maybe Rigo would have lost one of those intermediate fights and missed out on this payday.
I think Rigo can outbox Donaire, but he will probably be caught with a hand and his glass chin will be shattered. Donaire wins by KO/TKO.
He he he ... good one! I have a big feeling that Rigondeaux is going to KO Don~aire with just one wicked body shot. Don~aire leaves himself very open to body attacks and Rigo is the absolute best body puncher in boxing today. Rigo is also a southpaw and southpaws usually have the upper hand against orthodox fighters. Rigo is as calmed as they come and is because all those 300+ amateur bouts. I think that in this bout patience is the key for Rigo but if the opportunity presents itself he can easily stop Don~aire. One thing for sure, if Rigo beats Don~aire in just his 12th pro fight he has a guaranteed spot in the IBHOF and P4P top 7 rankings. But if he loses it's not the end for him as he can still go on and become Champ again. Rigondeaux has much to gain and not much to lose, go RIGO !!! :good
I'm going with Rigo to shock the world. All credit to Donaire for taking the guy that sylistically poses the most problems for him.
power smooths out all the rough edges. Donaire is by no means technically perfect but once he lands his bread and butter on Rigo's chin it will be goodnight
Two talented counterpunchers with power. It's an interesting fight. I haven't seen enough of Rigondeaux to really evaluate him properly, but from what I've seen so far I would go with Donaire. He's much more proven in the professional world -- he has more pro experience and he's beaten the better opponents. Rigondeaux seems like a dangerous opponent, though, and his style will cause Donaire problems. He won't just run into a counter left-hook. The fight will be a test of ring intelligence, patience, timing and skill. Roach seems highly impressed with Rigondeaux: '"He's the best counterpuncher I've ever seen," Roach said of Rigondeaux, speaking by phone from his gym in Los Angeles. "When I did the pads with him, I simply could not get through his defense. I tried. I couldn't, though. "On his first day in the gym, he wanted to spar with Manny Pacquiao," Roach laughed. "I didn't allow it. I don't want Manny getting that kind of work in sparring. Manny is a bit big for him, but he's an offensive guy and with countering like that, he was more work than I needed. "He's one of the greatest talents I've ever seen," Roach said of Rigo. Then the trainer pauses, considering his words. "Probably the greatest talent."''
