Best technical boxers ever?

Good point man, it was far easier to look good against the inferior competition that Lopez faced, as opposed to the likes of Pacquiao, Mayweather, Casamyaor, Diaz etc. Marquez is the better, and greater fighter imo, although everyone is entitled to their opinion.

he had great technic -> going forward with defense movements, great entering in opponents distance without getting punished and finishing with very accurate punches. He made that style technicly perfect. Of course, it didnt last long, but thats another story.

say what you want but klitschko bros have very nice technic too, perfect game plan, great measuring of opponents and always technicly working while minimising danger

but of course, finito lopez, duran, marquez, srl etc.. are allaround technicly better then guys above, i just had to mention them.

 

Arguello should be mentioned in this kind of thread.

So should Bernard Hopkins, and some people will get the hump, but so should Andre Ward.

 

The best technical fighter since I started following the sport was Finito Lopez.

My favorite really technical fight is Griffith-Benvenuti II (I think II).

 

Great performance, in fairness though Collazo did break his hand in the 2nd round which makes it pretty impressive that he did the full 12 near enough one handed.


Yes also Hopkins should be added to the list of best technical boxers, I don't particularly like the guy but I sure as hell respect his skills.

 

Of course he should.Him and Finito are the best exponents of no-frills orthodox boxing without any outrageous flash.
And there are different kinds of technical excellence.See Winky Wright.
And Duran is another whose technical brilliance is often overlooked in favour of his aggresive persona.
Pernell Whitaker is a lock here.And watch Micheal Watson beating Benn for a wonderful display of technical excellence.
Ray Leonard is the master of technical verstality and Benitez was no slouch.
And if Ray says Chava is a perfect example of a man who has perfect fundamentals,I'd buy it if I didn't already know it.

Finito is the perfect starting point for any kid looking to seriously study the fundamentals of the sport.
And of course,Floyd isn't the Saviour of Boxing because he's technically inept.

 

And although I'm a huge fan of Finito,it's a bit misguided to say he's "better" than Juanma Marquez.

 

Great shouts. Tyson's technique was incredible. The perfect swarmer.

The klitchkos have also found a very sound formula for succes.

Interesting how Donaire watches the whole body,feet, and never looks at the eyes, whereas Hopkins looks at the shoulders, arms, and eyes.

Only thing with Tyson Bogo is great that he was, he was like a Walmart version of Hammerin' Hank.

 

I just knew somebody was gonna say that "perfect swarmer" may have been a bit of an overstatement.

 

No big thing Bogo, how many people under 30 would say you didn't make a perfectly pertinent observation.
Ask most about a swarming great and Tyson will be the most mentioned.
