    False,

Floyd Moved up to fight DLH from welter to Jr Middle for DLHs WBC title, DLH was not #1 he was Champion.

Floyd then moved back down to fight Hatton at 147 wouldnt call him #1

Then Floyd retired came back and fought Marquez, only to later then be called out by then Welter Weight Champion Shane Mosley

only for Floyd to leave on Vacation for a bit vacated his title and returned to then face WBC champion Victor Ortiz

Then for a while he lost the urge, mini Vacation a few non santioned bouts with Josie Harris tune ups for his come back against then WBA Super welter weight Champion Miguel Cotto.

okay so in a sense your right he hasnt fought the #1 guy he has fought all the Champions and beat them all :hi:

PBF and Pac are both guys who just wanted to make money with the least risk necessary.

PBF has always ducked the toughest challenge. He picks them just right and makes the fight where he has the biggest advantage. Pac is the same.

 it's like he put no effort into it
Margarito beat Cotto to become number 1 and that was the only time he ever was (when Floyd was retired).
Cotto became number 1 by Floyd retiring and from his Judah and Mosley wins.

Floyd was number 1 from beating Baldomir who beat Judah who beat Spinks who beat Mayorga who beat Forrest who beat Mosley who beat Oscar ....:tired

Mosley refused to fight Mayweather because he had a loose tooth. :nut

Cotto and Arum wanted nothing to do with Mayweather at 140. The Gatti fight scared them shitless. The 154 Mayweather was much more stationary and easier stylistically for a flat-footed fighter like Cotto to deal with. Imagine him trying to follow Floyd around and land power shots on the move at 140... :verysad

Margarito was a fight that should have been made, but let's stop with this
'most feared man" bull****. He was high risk, low reward; same as a fighter like Winky Wright. Was Winky also "feared" by everyone?

Paul Williams was desperate to make the Margarito fight and Margarito tried to use his status as the more popular fighter to block it while seeking bigger paydays. Sound familiar?

So two of the fighters he supposedly ducked, he beat later on. They were older than they should have been, but why do some posters pretend that Mayweather himself stays the same age while everyone else gets older?

Exactly. At no point was Margarito #1 at 147 when Floyd was fighting there.

right so in your opinion williams lost because in actual fact he didn't even though we all know it was a robbery. Just like we all know Mosely, Baldomir, Cotto, Judah, DLH were not number one when Mayweather fought them but you will argue it anyway

Margarito would have beaten Baldomir, pounded him for twelve rounds with a huge CompuBox edge.

He would not "destroy" him. In the last nineteen years Baldomir has only been knocked out once, by Canelo, months before turning 40. Margarito isn't doing what Judah, Gatti, and Bonsu at WW, Forrest at LMW, and Godoy at middleweight failed to do. He'd throw a boatload of punches and land a whopping majority at the rate Tata ships, and he'd probably leave the old man's face puffed and bruised - but nothing in Margarito's arsenal is going to crack that tough nut. Maybe a cuts/towel stoppage...but no destruction. Let's stop overselling the legend of "prime avoided welterweight Margarito" (I know, it's especially tempting to pump him up in the context of anti-Floyd threads...but try and restrain yourself)

Margarito was never #1 because Shane Mosley whooped his ass.

Matchmaking is part of the game to son...

Baldimor was the #1 welter but he was not the best welter weight out there

Firstly you're arguing with something I never actually said. I didn't state anything about Mosley's ranking in my post.

Secondly Mayweather waited for 18 months AFTER the Margarito win to fight Mosley - He was 39. Deduce from that what you want.

Mosley had called him out 2-3 years earlier before his "retirement" - with Mosley the timing was good and at that point it was a fight he could build up during his whole Pacquiao-ducking phase.

Why didn't he come back and fight Mosley straight away in 2009 instead of making a lightweight come up 2 divisions and ignore the agreed catchweight?

But more to the point, why didn't he fight Mosley when Mosley was younger and calling him out? Oh yeah, he retired

well no I'm saying in the actual rankings, he wasn't number 1 because of what I just said. Matter a fact, I think he even got ranked lower than Lara after the fight happened, but I'd have to check on that (something you never did :yep)

right so cotto didn't get KO'd by Pac badly then look horrible against Mayorga not long after?

Fact of the Matter is Williams would have been a favourite against Foreman, Mayorga and he beat Margarito in his peak and he only got KO'd at a higher weight vs' Martinez. Your argument is bs n you know it. Cotto was never number one at lmw, there was and still is no clear claim to that but it has now clearly been proven that cotto never was
