There is a such thing as being a solid good pro, he wasnt a great fighter but he was very good. A bum is somebody like 10-6, 0r 3-15, A contender isnt a "bum". He was a massive puncher that was good at his job
One of my favourite fighters and a man who gave the sport his all. My utmost respect to him, and I only hope there's nothing seriously wrong with him as another poster hinted might be the case.
Although I stubbornly wanted to see if he could get another good win before he left, I know it's the right call. Kats reminded me of Gatti many times, and he eventually grew on me. I hope he's set up well after boxing, and if he does come back I hope it's not because of money issues. Thanks for everything you gave Michael, respect.
Accomplishments are based on what exactly? titles? abc? fighting bums your whole career and grabbing a paper title? Michael katsidis has achieved alot in his career, thats why hes shown the respect he deserves from the fans, great boxer? probably not, great fighter? ****N HELL YEAH.atsch
Awesome fighter that come to fight. Had great determination and warrior mentality. Wish kats all the best outside of Boxing.
Will be more remembered for his defeats, he brought in entertainment with a style that can only be described as "badass." As for those saying he never beat anybody, he does hold some solid wins: Nice early beat down of undefeated Kevin Mitchell in the UK, good fight with Vicente Escobedo, one sided war with Graham Earl, and an old near retired Jesus Chavez.
won the wbo interim title twice on foreign soil, beat a former world champion, gave several highly rated world champions all they could handle, when you do that come back and say that. shame katsidas wasn't the ricky hatton come back opponent. I know people critisized it when it was talked about but I think it would have given both a much better send off.
true to some extent but in britain he will be remembered best for his war with graham earl and his upset of mitchell, but that's just britain. the earl fight was a war
