Is it true that 2nd assists are underappreciated? Guys like Ellerbe, Buboy etc

    It seems like everyone who fills this role are either labelled "useless" or "gay"

    Guys like Leonard Ellerbe, Toshi Nakajima, Buboy Fernandez. All 3 of them are labelled "homosexual" when in fact they're very heterosexual, useful and great at what they do.

    From what I see, all 3 of them do a lot in the corners during their fighters matches.

    They serve as good backups if the coach goes out of commission during a fight. Example) Leonard coming in and filling for Rog when Rog got thrown out of the Judah fight. Leonard Ellerbe, being a former amateur boxer also gives great advice to Floyd from time to time.

    Buboy acts as a translator for Freddie at times.

    I think all 3 of them do a MAGNIFICENT job for their fighters. Leonard brings a lot to the table.

    Agreed, all great fighters have had a Leonard Ellerbe type behind them. The work he does is seriously underrated, he's been a vital part of Floyd's success

    they are there for their man, they are not boxing proffesionals as such since they only follow one guy.

    always thought LE was more of a business guy.

    I suppose when you become some mega star it is good to have people around who you know you can trust 100%

    Well Leonard has been in his corner since his amateur days, he's a really loyal guy. An intelligent man in the ring and in the office.

    I'd want a guy like that working for me too if I was a boxer.

    Well not always about the money. They're very loyal people. All 3. Even after many years of rise/fall, they're still with their fighter.

    Coaches come and go, 2nd assistants stick!

    I'm not Ellerbe, but I'd want a job like his. Making tons of cash and doing what he loves to do.
