12 or 15 Hopkins wins. Monzon's shot is to KO him and he just isn't going to do it. Hopkins keeps range, bullies inside, feints, slips and takes a decision.

Monzon beats him at 160 UD, range and power and distance I think decisive win for Carlos

But what if we gave him Ray Leonard's hand-speed

With Leonard's handspeed, with same day weigh ins- I would pick Monzon, controversial UD due to points taken from Hopkins because of inactivity and too many feints

It's not like you need to be Meldrick Taylor in the handspeed department to find Hopkins... Monzon was unerringly accurate, super consistent, and a master of distance.

What would be the difference is Monzon's consistent activity; his workrate and consistency probably win the day here. Knocking Hopkins out isn't his only chance here.

I'll add that Hopkins could be dropped, which is a possibility here. It's also very possible that Hopkins can successfully neutralize Monzon's jab and right hand with movement and cagey defense, but consistently? That's the question.

I don't think Hopkins can shut Monzon's offense down consistently enough while mounting enough of an offense to earn rounds on the cards.

    Monzon wins a close decision.

Hopkins UD maybe pretty wide, I don't see many attributes Monzon has over Hopkins he can use to pull out a win

Monzon was a master I'd hate to pick against him, but I'm going to anyways. Hopkins by decision.

This is very well said!. You didnt have to be Superman to find Hopkins, And Monzon is a consistent puncher, constantly throwing accurate shots and He loved to counter off his opponents jab which could be real bad for Bernard. Monzon out busys Hopkins..He does stack up rounds but I see him gettin Hopkins outa there somewhere around the 7th or 8th..No decision here Dave!...:good

Hopkins survives long enough to lose a decision.
