Do you really believe that nonsense?

After a very slow start Price's career has really picked up. His last four fights have been a step up and now he is fighting a world class guy. Price wants to win the British title outright so his last four opponents would have been the same with any promoter.

People forget that Price has only had 15 or fights. Fury is five fights ahead of him. Both are ranked highly. The age of the fighters is irrelevant.

"Boxrec News: Maloney says Price v Thomspon is on, blasts rumours"

The fight is ON! It's been confirmed by Maloney, the rumour only started because a delay with the paperwork from Thompson's medical. Fury was obviously just ****ing around with us all but he's took it too far in this case. He's caused a load of agro for many people who bought tickets and have spent the afternoon worrying.

No one else thinking the fight might actually have been off due to money but since Fury tweeted it Maloney has managed to dig himself out the **** after seeing/hearing fans reaction?

I get the feeling that there could have been a minor problem so maloney put a few feelers out to see what kind of opponent he could get in if the fight did fall through.

Probably. Towers did tweet somebody saying he was offered the fight but turned it down. Maloney maybe rang him up and asked if he was available just in case but people got wind of it and assumed the worst.

Sorry but I just don't buy the winning the belt outright line as reason to fight McDermott, Skelton, Harrison etc. all of whom were never that good in their prime and are now well past their best. If he gets beaten by Thompson it will be because he has prepared for the step up to world level by taking on has beens and never were's.

There's nothing anyone can say that will make me believe that sticking with Maloney and fighting on Loaded TV is going to better him or further his quest to win a world title, if it is down to making a bit extra from ticket sales then that's even more ridiculous. I just can't see how you can say his career has "picked up" in his last four fights as he was expected to win them comfortably anyway.

Towers doesn't seem a big blabber mouth, so I don't think he'd lie they offered him the fight but he said no, he gains nothing from lieing about that

Obviously his last 4 fights are better than the level he was previously fighting at, how can you compare the likes of Sexton and McDermott with Dallas and Machimana?
