one last point i would like to make though i won't agree nor disagree with the floyd is a ducker angle heres a list of current title holders at 147/154
    147
Malignaggi won the wba WW belt from senchenko, Alexander won the ibf ww title from bailey, Bradley won the wbo belt from pacquiao * and Guerrero won his interim belt from aydin. Mayweather won the wbc belt off of ortiz after he took berto's 0
    154
Alvarez won the wbc belt from hatton, Bundrage won the ibf belt from spinks, Baysangurov?? won the wbo title from miranda, then you have Trout who won the wba belt from alvarez brother. Mayweather won his version of the wba belt off cotto

now the general consensus is belts don't mean to much any more but considering who these guys fault to call themselves champs i'd say the most legit title holder at 47/54 is Mayweather and looking at it if Mayweather's not fighting guys that are a challenge who is??

I'm understanding perfectly clear. He said that Mayweather doesn't take risks when they asked him why Mayweather would fight Alexander instead of Guerrero. This would clearly indicate that he believes Guerrero is a risk. That's the only logical conclusion to come to.

Stylewise, Guerrero's ability to fight both at distance and at close quarters makes it a more difficult style for Mayweather than against Alexander who just froze and did nothing in his fight with Timothy Bradley.

Corrales, Castillo II, Genaro, Hatton, Cotto would be my top 5.

The next tier would be Oscar, Mosley, Marquez, Gatti, Baldomir.

    Haha...

So, if Mayweather does fight Guerrero, JMM's statements show that in his opinion he endorses that fight as a very tough challenge for Floyd.

(He fought Mosley like 8 months later at WW and won 10/11 rounds... Two HOF'ers at the top of their divisions in a 9 month span, yeah that sucks.)

Oh, how ESB can't look further back than 5 years before.

Which category do guys like Corrales and Castillo fall under? I guess you would say nobodies.

Chavez and Carlos H? Young no hopers, who further removed from their prime would go on to be some of Morales' best wins?

    What about Zab? A nobody?

Two lineal champions in Genaro and Baldomir? Dismiss them. They were old men, no mind their winning streaks.

    ...no.

Guerrero is a much bigger threat. Power and his tough multi dimensional fighting style favor Guerrero noticeably over Alexander, although both are even regarding speed, size, and being southpaws.

    X 2

He even says about how Floyd won't want to fight his difficult, tough style.

In the context of the conversation, JMM is clearly saying that Guerrero is a risky opponent and Alexander is not.

I don't think JMM is hatin on Floyd, cause he would be saying that he himself wasn't a risk for Floyd and I know he doesn't consider himself to be a cherry. I think it was respect to Floyds wisdom as a fighter.

To me it signals that Marquez thinks Guerrero's style and physical attributes present more of a risk than Alexander's style for Mayweather.

Alexander is not going to come at you like Guerrero, so it becomes an issue of whether you think Alexander can outbox Mayweather, because he's certainly not going to do it through aggresion and power.

I agree. Floyd saw how Guerrero tooled Berto who was using the shoulder roll and Floyd though that it would be too tough.
He knows Alexander would be a much easier fight

You can cut any way you want, it's pretty obvious that he's saying Guerrero is a risky fight for Mayweather. And if Guerrero's come forward style spooks Mayweather so much, then why the hell did he fight guys like Cotto and Hatton. Guerrero is a good fighter and that would be good fight. However, Guerrero doesn't bring anything that Mayweather hasn't seen before. I'm confused by Marquez's words here. I can't understand how you can say Mayweather doesn't take risks and then list fighting Guerrero as an example of taking a risk.

I don't know about all that BBall. I think It's what everyone here is saying. Marquez is not dissing Floyd. Just stating that Mayweather prefers a certain fighter compared to a guy like Guerrero. If we look back at history, Mayweather has always had a tougher time with the aggressive/pressure style of fighting. DLH, Cotto and Castillo fought him in a similar way. They made him fight. They took the fight to him. Same reason why I think he ducked Margarito and Pacquiao. I believe Mayweather handles Guerrero fine, but for whatever reason, Mayweather does not like to face that type of fighter. He doesn't like to get hit. Marquez just stating what most people believe (except the *****s of course).

In other words, this is not about Guerrero. IMO he WILL fight Guerrero because he knows Guerrero isn't that big of a threat.

Thats just it, Marquez is'nt saying that Guerrero is some huge risk for Mayweather. All he's saying is that he's a bigger risk than is Alexander.

I think Mayweather will beat Guerrero pretty handily, but I dont have a problem with the fight being made if its to give exposure to the two main eventers. It looks like this card is an exposure card to hype a mid September clash between Mayweather and Canelo.
If that is the case, which it looks like it is, then Guerrero is certainly not a cherry pick!

Guerrero can't fight Floyd at distance or in close, stylewise. I really don't understand why everyone thinks he is a great in fighter, he isn't Casamayor and t-rex arms were troubling him on the inside. People think the Berto fight means something and it doesn't, Berto could never, ever, fight on the inside to begin with.

At a range Floyd has a longer reach and quicker hands.

Alexander froze and quit against Tim. I agree 100%.
Guerrero froze and quit against an Yourdan.

    You forgot to mention that.

    ...yes.

Guerrero isn't a much bigger threat at all.

Guerrero is a nice boxer, counter puncher at the higher weight. He doesn't have the power or the chin of a Alexander who even though he lost the fight ate bombs, massive bombs, from Matthaysse all night. Compared to Guerrero who was getting hurt Aydin late in their fight.

I would say style wise Devon is a superior in-fighter, combination puncher, and long distance fighter because of his superiority of speed and power, even though overall heart wise I think they both are lacking.

I'd say there is no problem Robert would give to Floyd that Devon couldn't also give, but there are things Devon can implement that robert cant.
