Different avatar every day for you, isn't it? You're new, so maybe you can be let off. Hagler would be up against something formidable, but he'd win. You have to realise that Hagler was just about bullet proof. Hart, Hearns and Mugabi could have hurt certain heavyweights more than they hurt Hagler. McClellan may have hit a bit harder than all of them; but Hagler, defensively sound and determined with his chin tucked, would likely get on his bike and further decrease McClellan's chances of affecting him. It would be hard fought of course, and any visions of an '85-'87 Hagler will lend your imagination in favour of McClellan, but we're talking about a crisp, heavily armoured and highly mobile counter puncher and not someone who would lay on the ropes and take those body shots. And obviously, the longer it goes, the longer McClellan's odds.
Only puncher who Hagler did GREAT against was Hart who he totally outclassed but Hart cannot be compared to McClellan by any stretch of the imagination. Against Hearns he was stunned (for a millisecond) and cut all within a minute but Hearns was quite chinny and had broke his hand. Mugabi landed some devastating blows on Hagler and won a number of rounds before his legs gave out on him, he too was quite chinny. Roldan if memory serves me was actually ahead of Hagler on points at the time of the stoppage. Even tho he was extremely durable Hagler didn't exactly do great against punchers he was better at outboxing the boxers. In McClellan he'll find a naturally much bigger and stronger fellow with a chin as good as his own, devastating power, great ferocity and speed. Not that I'm not picking Hagler but it wouldn't be such a one sided schooling.
i get bored pretty easily so needa change them Somebody has to be able to take him out though... Don't you think Hagler would try and pressure him like he did Hearns? I mean McClellan same height and a harder puncher i would think Hagler would have the same gameplan, Hagler said he realised he couldnt outbox Tommy and that Tommy hit harder so he put pressure on him so i'd think he'd do that to McClellan as well?
Sorry, but there is a lot wrong with this post. Roughly one hundred percent of it. But I'm not joking when I say my keyboard is absolutely ****ed and that typing is a real chore, so I'm afraid I'll have to leave it, and the thread.
:good Just because Hagler didnt get knocked down or out in his career dosent mean it cant happen, i pick Hagler but only because i cant imagine him getting knocked out, but what if McClellan could do it? Think about what kind of fighter it would take to knock out Hagler? -Big guy maybe bigger than the middleweight limit > -Great power with a good body attack > -A chin strong enough to take Haglers punchers to get off your own > -A physically strong big guy that can out muscle Hagler >
I wouldn't favour any Middleweight in history to KO Hagler although I'd say Robinson has the best chance over 15 rounds, and it'd most likely be a TKO with Hagler still on his feet. I dunno punches don't seem to really effect him.
I noticed. And I bet you never watch more than about a minute of a fight before skipping through it. Anyway, I'm off.
Well i am entertaining the idea because McClellan was a cruiserweight thats why i was saying i dont think anybody in Haglers weight limit could ko or get a TKO over him No i dont get bored of sports watched about 3 or 4 full fights today and didnt get bored... Unless its chess or one of those sports that arent really sports like table tennis or something Am i so wrong for thinking Hagler would probably win if he can survive the beginning rounds and for thinking McClellan might be able to beat him if he can bomb him out early? I mean you must think it for saying you think i never watch more than a minute... I guess in your mind Hagler will walk in walk through his shots not even wince at a body shot and KO McClellan within the first 2 rounds This content is protected >>( This content is protected
Maybe it's just me but I don't think Hagler did GREAT (maybe I'm getting caught up with that word) against Mugabi and Roldan, two fighters I'd say were below McClellan in both quality and physical tools (He was bigger, stronger, faster, more durable yada yada). Hearns was not a natural Middle, was always chinny and broke his best hand about 1 minute into his fight with Hagler. Hagler did steam roll him but he would not be able to this against McClellan infact trying the same tactic of bringing the fight to McClellan would probably be the stupidest he could do. And surely 100% of my post couldn't be wrong....surely.
I shoulda put a sarcastic emoticon after it didnt think i needed to though because of what i wrote before it.... But yes i was being sarcastic...
Yes, McClellan did have an advantage in size and power, but let's not forget he had a very tough time with an aging Julian Jackson that peaked at 154 lbs - at the time of the same-day weigh-in. I think Hagler take this one - especially if it's over 15. If there's anyone at MW that's gonna break Marvin down it is Gerald, though.
