Yeah but what do you say to the fact Leonard was widely regarded as the greatest ever?

I don't like Ali on even terms with Charles and a full tier over Leonard. Seems wrong to me.

Room should be made for Hopkins on account of because.

New York fighter, New York press. But he's a decent shout for that position.

    Oh yeah.

So what about the numerous non-New York 'experts' and fighters who said Leonard was the best they ever saw?

    :bart Never my chum, never.

He still has time. Beating the winner of Canelo-Trout would impress me I'm sure.

Top two even! But check out the guys on this list, this ATG fighters list that Charles beat.

I would say that Dempsey was too, for a while.

Yeah but come on, it's Dempsey. At least with Leonard you can reason with it.

I know all about Charles. He just never seemed the stand out. Never seemed as invincible as Leonard. ****, Leonard nearly stopped Britton for the welterweight title and lost on a foul; from the reading I've done, it seemed Britton had the best of the fight but tired as Leonard upped his game, taking control of the last few rounds and hurting Britton increasingly as the fight wore on.

I'm pretty sure it was Britton coming on. Senya did a whole thing on that fight in a thread about why there was no rematch.

And I don't find it logically consistent to say that the experts opinion matters when it comes too Leonard but not Dempsey.

OK here is what I have so far.

1 - Saddler to move up a tier

2 - Benny Leonard to move into the top tier. He'll still rank at #8 when I come to translate it into a numbered ranking but there seems to be a case to move him into that tier.

3 - Introduce Fighting Harada and remove Jack McAuliffe who I feel I am guilty of over-ranking.

    Continued issues -

    Loughran
