Hopkins never had one punch KO power or blistering speed so as his career progressed he was able to adjust his style accordingly and he had plenty of time to evaluate what was happening to him physically and how he could make those changes to maximise his skills but Jones almost literally fell off over night, he went up to face Ruiz and came down another fighter. The only thing that helped him beat Tarver the first time was the self belief and confidence he had that he was still that same Roy Jones and it carried him through but once he finally got KO'd in the rematch all that vanished and he knew it wasn't like before, but it was too late switch it up then and he's pretty much stook with the same style minus the speed, reflexes and power and today you see a shell of a fighter.

Post-Chico Mayweather would never touch another top P4P fighter who was in his weight class.

Jones relied on reflexes and athletism...once they were gone he had nothing..plus he roided
My idol??the hell kind of **** are you on..bit Floyds resume shits all over roys easily,

i know more then you..Roy was my favorite fighter but his resume is weak as hell..sure he showed alot of talent against nobodies but once he lose his reflexes and speed he had nothing to fall back on

You can break Roy down over a number of fights and see that he does have skills and fundamentals -- but that they are unconventional skills and fundamentals.

I've seen many RJ Sr. fighters in the amateur and they all fight an unconventional style (a style that RJJ took to different levels due to his speed and athleticism). They don't fight textbook, but there is a method to the madness. It starts with everything largely being keyed off the other guy's jab and the RJ Sr. fighter dipping left or right at the waist to counter it. Watch RJJ, especially in the first half of his career, and you'll see it.

That's pretty much a line of demarcation... if you think RJJ didn't have skills it's pretty clear that you DKSAB. You seriously have to know next to nothing not to realize just how good he was. One of, if not THE best offensive fighters of all times. And you think he didn't have skills?? Even other ATG fighters will tell you that Roy's skillset is ****ing mesmerizing. He's forgotten more about how to get a glove to your chin than most fighters will ever know.

    lol moron

yeah... once Ali's reflexes were gone he couldn't even hang with Leon Spinks or Trevor Berbick huh? Soon as SRR got old he got EXPOSED, couldn't even hang with Stan Harrington, man he SUCKED!

Different type of fighter. Only can think of Tyson as a fighter with similar natural gifts.

Definitely more exciting for the layman.

People need to wake up to the fact that when they see a fighter who can afford to fight with their hands down, it doesn't mean they have 0 skills. Controlling a ring efficiently, knowing what feints to use, knowing whether to slip towards the outside or inside, what to throw after slipping either way, knowing how to set up a body shot, knowing how to bait counters, knowing how to throw short compact punches, those are all fundamental skills. You don't make it to that level in boxing just be being quick and having a punch. People who say Roy had no skills are ****ing clueless. A shot fighter is a shot fighter, no matter how skilled they are.

It's the fans that always use a fighter's '0' as an excuse as to why he's great that really pisses me off.

If dickhead fans didn't think like that, fighters wouldnt be so scare to preserve that '0', and we would be more likely to get the best match-ups out there.

Got nothing, i figured as much. Only thing you can point to is that he is undefeated:lol:

You make fun of one guys resume, but your idol who you love got just as a weak resume or even worse.

Did I say anything about him not being good? Roy was ****in amazing and the fact that he was so great while doing everything wrong shows that.

Roy had a style of his own just like Naz and Donaire. They have the natural talent to throw out the logic that applies to most boxers and still dominate with amazing reflexes, speed and power.

There a reason that everyone(besides Donaire) that tries to fight like Roy fails.

If anyone thinks Roy has some amazing technical skills dksab.
