Which fighters From 135 - 154 can pose a legitimate threat to Broner?

He will undoubtedly move up at least another 2-3 divisions, so which fighters from 135 - 154 will pose a threat to him in years to come?

Take Mayweather and Pacquiao out of the equation. Who can beat him?

Pretty much all of the good ones.
I only see him beating Maidana, Malignaggi and maybe Judah.
He could beat the others, but it's debatable.

Here is what these posters (HATERS) just don't seem to understand, is that Broner is only 23 year old. Which means as talented as he is now....HE WILL ONLY GET BETTER. So all of the fighters that these posters think will beat Broner. They better do all they can to fight him now. Because by the time he's 25 and beyond....HE'LL BE UNBEATABLE.

 

I agree with a lot of your post,but what you need to understand is that a minority of Broner fans are turning people off of him because of the "****" effect.
I want to enjoy Broner,because I think the sport needs potential superstars,but when there are fans coming on and questioning Ricky Burns' character,when Ricky is one of the most humble and genuine guys in the game,it's hard to feel the way you want to feel about Broner.

I want him to fight Burns,but I think he will really flourish at 140.His chin looks solid so I'd like to see what effect Matthyse could have on that.
People are saying he looked poor last night but I thought he was superb.Yes,he was hit,but that only showed that he was confident enough in his chin to take what Rees had for a few rounds until he felt ready to launch his assault.

 

There is no guarentee that Broner will "only get better" with age. He could get better with age and turn into the next superstar of boxing or he might not improve at all. We simply dont know how good he'll be in the future, we might now be looking at peak Broner and in years to come we'll be saying what a shame it was that he never improved.

 

Miguel Vazquez. Fast hands, fast feet, long jab, busy style, Broner's stance is too wide to cut him down and he's too economical to outbox Titere. Needs the judges or a knockout to win this one.

 

Problem with this statement is, how do you know he is only going to get better? Boxers peak and prime at different stages, we don't know if Broner has reached his limit so to speak. With experience and as he shares the ring with better opposition, he will undoubtedly improve, but we don't know that he will be unbeatable.

IMO, no one currently at 135lbs gives him too much trouble. They will crack his defense more regularly than that of a Mayweather, but that's not a negative because his defense is still very good. He's just too big, too fast, too explosive a puncher at this weight class. 140lbs is another story though, that division is stacked and he faces whole new tests with similar size or bigger boxers. His skill set will be tested then. Again, we don't know that he will be unbeatable, moving up in weight classes is the test of that.

 

He's much better than he was against crude PDL, witnessed in the dismantling of a more dangerous DeMarco. He still has his passive tendencies, he could've and should've blasted Rees in 3, but Gavin came out faster, shorter and busier than expected, so it took Bro a little time to adjust, another thing experience will improve.

Aye, but that bout was 2 years ago. He will improve under experience, etc...but his skill set, his technique, etc is not guaranteed to improve just because he is only 23 like Darryl has stated.

(I'm not saying he won't improve, I think he will, but there is no guarantee in boxing)

so many.. A good pressure fighter that makes him fight every second of every round will beat him.. Like rios and Matthysse.. Broner gets hit way too much...

But after the PDL debacle, GBP will never make a fight with the above names..

 

Ricky Burns will beat him handily, Gavin Rees is a small fighter and still won the first 2 rounds against Broner.

 

Don't get me wrong, I think with improvement and natural maturity, Broner can definitely beat the current 140-154lbers. I think he's a very solid fighter!

 

Rios doesn't come close to beating Broner IMO. Very limited boxer who will be beaten quite easily on the inside.

Matthysse holds different problems for Broner, interesting bout.
