HBO's refusal to show Wlad Klitschko's fights: In retrospect, was it a good decision?

Following Waldo's knockout over the overmatched Rahman, HBO decided to stop showing his fights for many reasons:

1.) All he did was jab, clinch, and throw the occasional right hand until his opponent got tired.
2.) He took no risks in the ring.
3.) His opponents were overmatched from the start

Let's look at the results of Wlad's matches since the HBO embargo:

    Chagaev - RTD 9
    Chambers - KO 12
    Peter - KO 10
    Haye - UD 12 -
    This content is protected
    Mormeck - KO 4
    Thompson - TKO 6
    Wach - UD 12

Now, the question is: So was HBO's decision not to show any Wlad fights a good one?

I think so. None of those fights were exciting. Wlad's cautious style absolutely puts viewers to sleep. What do you think?

Yes it was an amazing decision. HBO freed up valuable broadcasting resources to show us dozens of awful snooze fests from the likes of Dawson, Alexander, Bradley or Hopkins.

Thank God HBO is so good at weeding out boring and unexciting fighters :lol::lol::patsch:yep

Yep, unlike 'excellent HBO entertainers' such as Dawson, Alexander, Bradley or Hopkins who are boring as **** too but happen to be American :deal:deal:deal

His style doesn't really appeal to casual fans, but more importantly he hasn't been truly tested in a long time. If every fight was like the first Sam Peter fight there'd be no problem. When he loses/retires and the dust has settled he'll be highly ranked and regarded as an interesting case, but even as a big fan I can understand HBO's decision.

Depends on the ratings Wlad got. If they were good he should be shown, if they are bad, I guess HBO can justify not showing his fights.

Furthermore, who Wlad fights and where is a factor as well. Wlad fighting Arreola in America is probably gonna get shown on HBO.

Do those guys get higher ratings than Wlad fights? They probably do.

These guys get on HBO because they're American, not because they're exciting or bring in stellar ratings. If ultra-boring Hopkins was from Russia then HBO wouldn't give a flying **** about him and neither would US boxing fans.

Stupid thread, remind me when wlad or Vit fight wasn't on HBO when they fought in USA? HBO don't show Klitschko fights because they fight in Germany , that's 4-6 pm EST , they're not the biggest stars in USA , but neither are dawson ,ward or golovkin , btw I think more people would watch Klits than dawson , ward or golovkin if that wasn't 6pm local time.

I feel for Wlad i mean he is a nice guy but very boring. And to think that the Heavyeight Champion of the world doesn't get shown on hbo must **** him off. Sad really nothing to gloat over,

I agree with HBO it's like watching paint dry most of the time and the opposition is very poor and a boxer of wlads ability should be really putting on a show against these weak challengers
