HBO's refusal to show Wlad Klitschko's fights: In retrospect, was it a good decision?

Doubt it. The reason he's off HBO is the lacking boring division. When he fought someone finally worth tuning in for(Haye), HBO was first to host it.

 

They have missed **** all end of the day.

 

HBO has said there are certain fights they will show with Wlad Povetkin and Mitchell was another before Banks ended that hype train. They seem interested in Jennings.

Vitali they seem to want to show more.

The question should be why was Mr Excitement David Haye banned from HBO after one fight? He was going to save the Division remember?

I think HBO should show the fights maybe even on a tape delay as an opening fight

as far as boring heavyweights go you can watch plenty of heavyweight title fights from past champs that were boring as well

 

I know Hopkins is way more boring than Wlad, but does he generate higher ratings than him on HBO?

Just because there's no American contenders doesn't mean the competitions ****. As for Wlad and Vitali being boring.... erm.... nope.

Just because a guy doesn't act like a ***** in interviews doesn't make him boring. The sad thing about you dumb yanks is that you seem to love anybody who acts like a ***** for some reason.

It's a shame that the Heavyweight division is so underated purely because racist, xenophobic flag-waving yanks refuse to watch the division just because they're all European.

The most boring boxers are Andre Ward and Bernard Hopkins, yet the yanks love them. If they were European the xenophobic, racist, arrogant yanks wouldn't care.

 

I feel there should be a 'I counldn't give a **** option'. It makes zero difference to me wether a foreign Country's tv channel showed the fight or not.

People here said it, it'a two aspects, if Wlad fights in the US HBO is on board. Also if he fights a legit opponent elsewhere than HBO is also on board.

Other than that forget it because it doesn't make business sense for HBO.

 

Wlad is leagues above, entertainment wise, that featherfisted booradley, Hopkins, ward and the rest of the HBO favorites. USA ignoring something doesn't mean that something has a problem: think.of metric system for instance ;-)

I wouldn't want to fill up my airspace with blatant mismatches that aren't going to be exciting enough to draw fans.

If you air mismatches at all, the only purpose should be for hyping up someone, trying to turn them into a star and get a fan base started. Wlad is as big as he's going to get, what good does putting Wlad-Mormeck on the air do from a business POV? What good does it do you to have to build a card around that, hype it up and advertise it?

None.

 

It was the right decision as time and money are of limited quantity at HBO and more exciting fights in the lower weight classes can be made. Unfortunately they wasted alot of that time and money on Andre 'The FMJ Qualifier' Berto.
