Broner destroys him with ease, he can beat Rios at his own game (he's a better infighter and brawler with better power and has an equal chin) or he can outbox him like Abril did. You guys remember Abril winning 11 out of 12 rounds vs Rios right? Or how about caveman Alvarado out fighting and outboxing him until he got his limited ass tapped.
Rios is no longer weight drained at 140lbs, i firmly believe he beats the **** out of Broner whilst taking the odd sickening shot himself. Who the **** has Broner beat to warrant picking him over Rios, until i see Broner deal with someone of equal stature of his own i cannot judge how he would deal with guys like Rios and Mattysse.
Broner is unproven against someone his own size. At this point BRandon would bully him into submission.
Broner wants to fight on the inside and Rios plays right into that. Not sure Rios can just keep taking shots he'd take from broner for 12 rounds. Not as one sided as MAyweather vs chavez but it look similar.
I would consider it safe to say that assuming Broner has more power than Alvarado is a baseless opinion.
Alvarado is simply a clubbing puncher who wears guys down via accumulation. Broner has the ability to end/alter a fight with one punch. It's not baseless at all. Then when the factor in Broner's handspeed, he can do FAR more damage to Rios than Alvarado can. Once again, Rios got hurt by Miguel Acosta.
Rees was tagging Broner at will until he stupidly sat on the inside with him. Too bad for Broner that even there he is outmatched against Rios. Broner just really reminded me of Berto last night. He has all the hype going but alt of flaws. There is a reason Broner is mostly matched against fighters 4 inches shorter than himself.
When I look how Broner did against de leone and how Gamboa did against him..... Clear victory for Gamboa!
I'm seeing people say this a lot now. Broner had ZERO respect for Gavin's power. Rees couldn't hurt him which is why Broner stood in front of the shots. Broner just wanted to get him out of there qucikly. If you are basing his defense on that then i dont know what t tell you.
Even when Broner was trying to look good on the defensive he was getting tagged, Rees didnt touch him when Broner attacked. It all well and good posing and postering like Mayweather but i cant say im overly impressed when he's still actually getting punched. Broner wont be so lucky when he meets a fighter like Rios who has the size and strength to punch through the guard and push him off balance. Last night proved to me that Broner is far better offensively than defensively, he leaves plenty of gaps that dont exist with Mayweather's defence.
He was never trying to look good a defense, if that was the case he would've just kept the fight at a distance and Rees would've been to short to land. Once he seen rees couldn't hurt him he just walked straight in there. He was hellbent on getting him out quickly. Trading wasn't an issue because rees doesn't hit hard enough.
Yes he was, thats why he let Rees get off with punches to try and counter, he was getting tagged by more punches than usual and thus stepped on the gas. Plan A didnt work against Rees so he went on the offensive and got the job done. Rees at the very least forced Broner to adjust his gameplan when the first one wasnt really working, thats what im disputing. First couple of round Broner's defence looked leaky and not nearly as refined as some people make it out to be, he was not during this stage of the bout in seek and destroy mode but cover up and counter mode, he adjusted and emphatically got the job done.:good
So he was trying to look good on D because he let rees get off? That's silly to say the least. Leading up to the fight Broner was saying that he was going to put rees to sleep. hat's the sense in trying to be pretty on D when the opponent can't hurt you? In those circumstances you just chop your opponent up with no regard for whats coming back. Which is what he did. FFS he was puching with rees while rees was loading up on shots. Trufully he got hit more when he opened up but he did not care for Rees power. Its clear as day. Look at his D vs Demarco campared to last night. I seen Floyd get tagged by mitchell and corely because he wasnt concerned about their power.
