I think you could say that Ruben was beating top fighters going back as far as 67, some that had been rated, some that were rated and some that would be rated.

Kid Williams was the top BW for 51 months by my reckoning defeating 8 ranked opponents during this time.

    his resume is a great one: Coulon (x2), P Herman, Ertle (x2)*, Campi (x2), LeDoux (x2), Kendrick, Hayes, Solzberg, Goodman, Diggins - Lynch (D), P Herman (D), Burns (D), Ertle (D) - Solzberg (L), P Herman (L), Lynch (L).

I think he's a top ten lock tbh.

Olivares' violent, terrifying win over the excellent Lionel Rose ranks as one of the most impressive offensive displays ever seen below the welterweight division, along with Saddler's kayo of Pep, McGovern's over Palmer, and Jenkin's over Ambers. When one factors in that Rose is your 15th best bantam ever, and that many would rate him close to the top ten, this is likely the most impressive knockout ever by a bantamweight.

Throw in two wins over Chucho Castillo, another lock for the top 20 in my opinion. Throw in a knockout over Jesus Pimental, who some considered an uncrowned champion. And don't forget his knock outs over former champions Efren Torres and Salvatore Burruni. He also demolished Jose Medal and Alan Rudkin, as well as Takao Sakurai, who was good enough to hold Rose to a majority decision, but wasn't good enough to last a full six rounds with Olivares.

While many of the men Olivares dispatched en route to his title win don't have beautiful undefeated records, many incorrectly assume that Ruben's sterling kayo record was accumulated against tomato cans.

I disagree. Indeed I've always thought that the closer we examine his record the more impressive is becomes. Consider the example of Tiny Palacio, who lasted the full route with Rose, and also dropped Harada before losing to Harada by only two points on two cards and three points on the third. While hs record was an unappealing 16-8-5 going in against Olivares there was no doubt that he was a hard nut and a good fighter. Olivares breezed past him in six rounds.

Jose Bisbal is another example. 28-22-5 when he met Olivares Bisbal was better than his record suggests. He'd lasted the distance with Winstone, Legra, and Rudkin. He was rough and tough and on the rare occasions when he didn't last the full route it was usually due to cuts. Olivares stopped him clean in three rounds.

Olivares' record on the way up through the ranks is littered with an assortment of ex champions, contenders, prospect, and dangerous gate keepers. Their status didn't matter. They all met a grim fate, falling under Olivares' sword.

Ruben came along at a point where the bantamweight division was stocked with a great variety of historic talent, and the way he swept across the division during his period of dominance, however briefly, is really something to marvel at, even decades later.

Other good fighters he'd fought were Felipe Gonzalez, he'd gone 2-2 in his previous 4 with losses to Rudkin and Rose in two tough fights and wins over Jerry Stokes and a KO win over Chucho Castillo, Octavio Gomez KO 5.was a future rated fighter as was Julio Guerrero who he crushed in 4 rounds. Throw in Ushiwakamaru Harada, Salvatore Burruni, German Bastidas who was in good form, he'd won and lost to Memo Tellez who was considered second only to Medel in Mexico at the time. Tellez himself stopped Castillo twice and they weren't flukes. Joe Medel, Kasuyoshi Kanazawa and like you say Bisbal who was a crafty stayer. I've just uploaded me dad's fight with Bisbal to YT as it happens. Howard Winstone jnr tells me he might have film of his old fellas fight with Bisbal on 16mm. I recently read a full report of the Bisbal Olivares fight, he'd won the first 2 rounds and was giving Olivares problems before the 3rd KO. Bisbal by the way is the father of David Bisbal, the Spanish singer.

As compared to Chandler 53 months atop the division and beat 9 ranked opponenets??? Why does Chandler seem to get scrutinized harder??? Is it just because Flea does not like him?

*EDIT* I was wrong Chandler was 41 months...I tried to throw him a whole year!

The names that Williams beat were amongst the best in the division at the time, that can't be said for chandler. Although I think he made my top ten when I did a list.

    Pintor is too high.

    Chandler is too low.
