    Np Dempsey got his ass handed to him by the two great fighters he met and George 'what do you mean the pivot punch is illegal' Lablanche. I feel alright without him while acknowledging his greatness. I don't think he's in those guys class.

    The lablanche loss can't be held against him imo. He was considered as dominant as Floyd was today easily. It's just that we dont know enough about the calibre of guys he was beating. Early guys like that (pre serious record keeping) should receive the benefit of the doubt imo.

    It's too soon for Tyson, and any other career HW IMO, but im all ears...i do feel that Dempsey belongs in that tier, although we need to wait and see what pops up. I don't think he looks out of company there though - you really can't overstate how highly he was thought of.

    it opens up the playing field when you think about his number of top class victories as opposed to a lot who aren't mentioned yet.

    One thing that is often overlooked with the pre 70's bunch is how often they lost during their prime. That's were more modern guys have the advantage.

    Yeah, it's making me feel really alarmed, as in, I am thinking of a lot of names that I can't say "no, not yet" to because Oscar is in there. I think I may remove him actually.
