I wouldn't make anybody the favourite to beat a prime Ali but that's not to say that nobody could do it obviously.

Taller fighters with a good jab, Lewis, Wlad, Holmes etc would give him something to think about style wise I think.

Oh, and the guy that said Ali couldn't take Lewis and Tysons power does not know one single thing about boxing.

    :rofl

This is hypothetical. That means we take the peak versions of each fighter and apply them against eachother.

Is the Ali who fought Foreman the same guy who fought Cooper the first time?

Vitali always struggled with ATGs and Wlad never fought one, in fact he lost to B level guys nowhere as good as Ali. Your logic is awful.

You're just blinded by the hype. Just because someone shouts that they're the best enough times doesn't make it so.

Ali was great but wasn't the greatest ever. Not at all. He was overrated because he attracted attention because of his attitude and ego, he was an entertainer and because of the era he was in. If he was around in todays era he would just be another body for the Klitschko's to add to their list.

If he would be barely be the third best in the current era and, would be behind Lewis and Tyson in the 1990s... how can be be the greatest of all time. That junior, is logic.

I'd favour Ali against anyone in HW history..

But I'd give the following a fair chance to beat him:
    Lewis
    Holmes
    (Call me crazy) and Wladimir

Reading this poll makes me think, why is Lewis never touted as one of the best of all time if so many think (quite rightly) that he can beat Ali in his prime.

Lewis could beat Ali, no doubt about it. So surely that makes him the best heavyweight of all time? :)

If Lewis was American all the yanks would be putting him up there but sadly, can't have a Brit on top of the list can we. Nope, gotta hide the facts and stick a yank on there regardless of whether or not he deserved it.

What is it with you xenophobic yanks refusing to acknowledge the superior skills of other nations? Ali was great, Lewis was greater. End of story ;)

    I'm going with Evander Holyfield.
    Why?

Because out of the bunch listed none have the heart & willing to die attitude it takes to battle w/Ali like Evander. Plus I see Holy's style giving Ali prob's against the ropes.

    I like the fantasy match-up.
Might load up the FNC & see what happens.
(+ his style is like a mixture of Frazier/Norton.)

Tyson wins the first 4 rounds.
