I think Oscar beats Lynch on glitter.

But remember this; Lynch was the first real unified champ' since f'n...Wilde no VILLA I guess.

He was the more potent fighting machine than Oscar IMO. Good as Oscar was, he was no Benny Lynch, check the f'n film.

Lynch burnt out quickly in years but had **** loads of fight.

They both had a boogeyman. De La Hoya was run close a few times, while Warnock was Lynch's stylistic foil and Lynch's alcoholism saw him get a (probable) gift second round time against Kane (draw)

Lynch was only stopped when actually pissed out of his head. De La Hoya very hard to finish also.

So I can see the argument for either. 90-100 is fair, although depending on how highly you rate Lynch he could conceivably be in the 65-80 mix. Really with how deep fly is the greatest there need to get a shake. Wilde is presumably getting in for his P4P achievements. What of the greatest flys? Canto's run of opposition is not too shabby. His ability is right up there. Benny Lynch. What of Pascual Perez? 80-100, no? Didn't Chang make 19 defences or summat? Won title young, Zapata, Torres, Ohashi, Ursua, Chitalada, Lopez, Ship or whatever his name is, all former or future champs, some excellent fighters there and Chang demonstrates some of the best fighting we've got on film. That is greater than De La Houa scaling a few weights, despite De La Hoya being brilliant. yes that's all in bold.

But then again of we're ranking these guys what of Ho Joo and Marijan Benes?

I'd like Hearns in over Sanchez.

The weight jumping, likely the superior H2H force, and Duran-Benitez-Hill-Cuevas > Gomez-Nelson-Lopez 2x.

Nice post. I do think it's flyweight time. You know you're going to have to take a running ****ing leap with most of these oriental dudes though, right? You do know that?

Yes, Tommy is clearly above Sal'. No doubt whatsoever.

Sanchez was brilliant. He had a whole career before he died IMO, and is one of the greatest featherweights regardless.

Saldivar did the same then came back and did some more noteworthy stuff. Saldivar>Sal' for me. Match their best work up, you'll be surprised.

Sugar Ramos>Danny Lopez. And I love Little Red (the poster too)

OK cobra, I hear you. I'm not ignoring these shorter posts just waiting to see if they build consensus or not.

Imma sleep on this Oscar thing but if there isn't a very very strong counter argument by dawn I think i'm lifting him.

VII is a good deal bigger than VI anyway. Moving Hearns up might be a nice fit.

I'm ruthless with everyone, don't you worry.

Lynch, Perez, Canto, Chang are worthy of discussion. Accavallo would be behind all those and would be in place for 101-120 I imagine.

Oh, **** whatcha gonna' do with Newsboy Brown and Midget Wolgast bish?

Well the flies hover with the heavies. We'll know it's time to get into the meat and bones of those guys when it gets hard not to include the higher ranked heavies. I'm loathe to use my own list in a tiebreak type situation, I might go over to the ESB lists.

We got bigger problems than that though.

I think quite a few should be bumped up, if you want to even things out a bit more.

I say yes. He's clearly above those. By any criteria he spent some time as the best boxer on the planet.

He broke records in a fan friendly style.

He beat a who's who of his era.

As I say, all those who fought a prime version of him lost on my cards. About how many could the same be said?
