Why does that make any difference at all to the prestige of the win?

cloud does not mean much.. Bernard still lost to Calzaghe and Jones and Dawson and Taylor.. This would just mean Cloud is bad.
    isn't any good.

Take a step back, then look at your comment.
Then think about it for a while, think about that Hopkins is 47 years old and is fighting guys atleast 15 years younger then him.

So if you have previous losses it means any future wins become insignificant?

I'm not a Hopkins fan...far from it actually, but he's for sure in the top 25-35 depending on what you value and who you ask. That said, he's not going to win this fight, but it doesn't hurt his legacy, he's 48 years old for God's sake.

The Executioner is nearly 50 yrs old his last 3 fights have been with top tier fighters.
He's probably the greatest middleweight champ ever. 3 of his "losses" were utter robberies No way Taylor 2 or Calzaghe LEGITIMATELY beat him

Bernard the executionr Hopkins is top ten of all time regardless of the result against Cloud

Bernard did not legitimately lose to either taylor or slappy calzaghe they just got undeserved decisions . Nard also evened the score with Jones jr

The only other guy who's way past 45 and is still a force was Archie Moore, and he's a top-20 ATG.

Hopkins ain't far off and is probably at top 35 and if he beats Cloud, he'll be a notch higher.

Let's pretend that 'fight' never happened :lol:, Jones (a none shot Jones) probably wins 9 times out of 10 against Hopkins similar 116-112 type score everytime IMO.

He's already the greatest active fighter imo. Winning this fight simply furthers the gap between him & the rest of them.

I wouldn't really bump him up much if he beats Cloud. In a historical sense, Cloud is abysmal. Even in today's game, he is far from special. It would be a great accomplishment, though. So let's say Bernard is around 50-60 right now. A decisive win over Cloud might bump him up a few spots. He's not in that top 35 class right now (no active fighter is in my view).
