Lewis switches often with Holmes on my list, which is for the number 3 spot. I generally have it as 1. Ali 2. Louis 3. Lewis 4. Holmes
This.. Tyson was way too much of a head case to beat a master mind like Ali, who was great and mind ****ing his opponents before and during the fight. No way Tyson beats Ali.
So what if the Klitschkos haven't beat any all time greats. That's irrelevant to the fact that Ali wouldn't be able to handle them. They're side and, Wlad especially's style would be too much for Ali. As for their losses, Wlad's last loss came in I think 2004? He's improved a hell of a lot since then. Ditto Vitali and... as for Vitali's loss to Lewis, he was dominating the fight up until that point. Speaking as a huge fan of Lewis (One of my all time favs), I don't think the match should have been stopped and if it went for another 2 rounds Vitali would have beat him. I'm not disupting the fact Ali beat better opponents. He did. It's obvious. Likewise he'd have beat the opponents the Klitschkos lost too (Lewis aside) but... prime Klitschkos wouldn't have lost those fights. Like I said, Ali would struggle with the Klitschkos like he always seemed to struggle with bigger guys. Vitali he might stand a chance of beating but I can't see it. Prime Wlad, he'd just jab away at Ali and get the UD victory.
I'd give Lewis an outside chance but wouldn't be confident of it at all. Don't think anyone else there has a shot.
The correct answer is nobody. Although no boxer is unbeatable. If you had to pick a boxer that has come the closest to looking unbeatable, it would have to be Ali. I highly doubt any Heavyweight in history beats Ali when he's on his A-game. The question should be rephrased... which Heavyweight has a chance at giving Ali his toughest bout... And to that, i would say a relentless, durable pressure fighter with endless stamina/workrate, that is able to box at a consistently high pace, round-by-round over the course of 15 rds... and of the men listed, i would say Marciano would give the best showing and make Ali work for every round... before ultimately getting stopped. And i'm not even going to give credence to the idea that anybody on that list has the capability of outboxing Ali at range. Nor should anybody else.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLWYnTFz9PE I think tyson would get the KO because of what joe frazier was able to accomplish. Tyson was a super Frazier. Tyson perfected that leaping left hook and I think it would be more than enough to put Ali in serious trouble. Older era fighters continue to get overrated. You guys need to go back a rewatch some of their fights. The sport keeps putting out more refined fighters as teaching becomes more precise. Although it can't be denied drugs are responsible for a lot of the improvement aswell.
From a skill set I would agree but mentally I say no. This would come down to who's tougher mentally . Ali had that over Tyson that much was for certain.
