    :huh

I said there was no money to be made for the Philippines from a boxing match.

Which there isn't. Again, a fight will not bring a tourist influx. Few hundred travelling at most.

Some people seem to be reading this as an attack on the Philippines, which it's not at all. :nono

    Relax.

Ya. The Angel of death who was close to taking Manny away after running into Juan's counter right. :hey

  3. You said " Fact is, violence is just as bad there as anywhere in the States." By that you are saying that in an area ( I do not know where you are talking about ) in the Phils is just as dangerous as in the US.. The only danger difference is kidnapping.. The US has way more gun crime, and that is supposed to be a FIRST world country lmao
I would guess you are using Mindanao as your example in comparison to the whatever part of the US you are talking about. Again you obviously make up **** because your Pinoy tranny boyfriend dumped your ass for a girl. It explains so much about your hate for the Pinoys

    WTF?

Guys freakin' out over an article reposted from the scene. I assure you, I have no 'hate' for Pinoys. I even like Manny himself. Calm your ass down.

  5. Do you have a clue how rich Asia is?? we are not just talking the Philippines, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia..There are so many hugely wealthy countries in Asia, Singapore, Japan, China, South Korea and I could throw India in too.
Just because the US is a land mass the distance of the above mentioned countries are as close as traveling from one side of the US to the other. H

How many people went to see The thriller in Manila or the rumble in the jungle or even Tyson vs Douglas in Japan. If the fight is between 2 ATG fighters it does not matter where it will be the Stadium will be filled, the only issue would be PPV. Because the US audience is the biggest paying audience in the world.. I never pay the amounts that Americans do for PPV fights in the UK.

Never said there are no wealthy countries in Asia? :huh

Still don't see how this fight makes the Philippines any money. Most in the stadium will be Filipinos. Several hundred Mexicans or Americans may travel, but that's not going to bring Millions of dollars to the Philippine economy is it? PPV money does not go to the country the event takes place in, it's split between promoter and fighters. I'm not saying the fight has to be in the U.S. But why should it be in the Philippines when they haven't had one in Mexico. Also the President putting up 20 million of tax payer money on a fight, of all things, seems like a colossal waste. Ok, you say the Philippines is not as poor as it seems to be, that's fair enough, but 20 million on a fight would be a waste for any country on the planet. So many more worthwhile things to spend it on.

  7. It amazes me how the Middle Eastern countries are always throwing thsi amount that amount to get a big fight but NO one ever sets up a fight there EG Dubai..

Juan was offered 15 million tax free to fight some bum in Dubai. Glad he didn't take it though, would be indefensible really.

  9. Really. So you are saying you would turn it down if you were in his shoes too?
Even if it went 12 rounds he would earn close to $7000 per second. What sport can say that lmao.. Dont get me wrong JMM is an ATG but at 40 he deserves every last bit of money no matter if he fought SHITE like Deontay Wilder does.

I actually agree here. Juan could have beaten that bum, and call it a day with 15 extra mil in his account.

If anyone has earned it, its definetly JMM. :good:thumbsup:deal

Manila Mayor Presents Boxer Marquez Symbolic Key To The City

Mayor Afredo Lim of the City of Manila has presented Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez a symbolic key to the city during a courtesy call by the champion at the City Hall on Thursday, GMA News said.
Marquez was in Manila to promote his upcoming fight with boxing icon Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in La Vegas on November 12, experts said would be an exciting match because of their determination to win facing against each other for the third time.
Liking the weather at this time of the year, Marquez said he would do some training to work on his speed and strength but also planned to watch a billiard tournament to be held in the city being himself an aficionado saying, "yes, I like to play billiards; in Mexico I have a business… I want to see the tournament."

It's not a convincing win if you reside in Tijuana. All fights weren't convincing for both fighters, that's what close bouts are about. Even the fourth fight seemed to be going Pacquiao's way till the knockout punch landed, so in a way even the fourth fight wasn't convincing. By the way, in that decade Pacquiao has been ripping Mexican fighters apart. Marquez wasn't his only opponent.
