Why do people keep saying Floyd needs to fight Martinez?

It's a fight I'd love to see. It's also a fight that Mayweather has no obligation to take on. Sure, Martinez claims he can fight at 154, but he hasn't fought there in several years. Oscar also claimed he could fight at 147. Furthermore, Martinez is about to be 38. Again, it's a fight I would want to see. However, I can't ever see Mayweather taking this fight. It's a potentially risky fight that he wouldn't neccesarily get much of a reward from(outside of money) if he were to win.

 

I don't really care for p4p, but the idea that you can sit in the upper echelons of that list for 16 months without even fighting is laughable.

Mosley lost to MIGUEL COTTO. The Shane Mosley of even 3-4 years earlier would have ****ing destroyed Cotto. Did you see Mosley fight Oscar the first time? Compare that to the Mosley that struggled with a very good but NOT GREAT Cotto and you will see that he was a shadow of himself. And no he didn't 'basically' hold Cotto to a draw. He LOST to Cotto. CLEARLY lost. Even if it was only by a round it was clear.

Any what had Shane done apart from beat Margarito? Struggle with Mayorga for 12 rounds. A shot to **** Mayorga? Lose to Cotto? Beat Luis Collazo fair enough. But what else? That ain't P4P material.

No it's not. It's quite well known that ring's p4p list is now compiled by one person - Chuck Giampa.

I didn't think Oscar had anything to do with it. Hell, I don't think he has a great deal to do with GB promotions other than being 'the face' of the company.

 

:roll: 2 fights at welter against Selcuk Aydin (who went on to be dominated by Soto Karass) and Andre Berto and all of a sudden he's a world beater that Mayweather needs to be held to mythic status to consider him a low bar contender.

Stop talking stupid. Guerrero is at a disadvantage in EVERY POSSIBLE dimension of boxing against Mayweather, its an absolute foregone conclusion whats going to happen in this fight, you'd have to be a complete idiot not to see this. Guerrero is NOT an elite fighter, nowhere near Mayweathers skill level, and he doesnt even have a size strength or speed advantage to make up for that. What the **** is he gonna do wish his way to victory?
