Could have. Doesn't mean he should have. The Jewish families he hid would then have not had any place to go. The people he helped, no help.

It should never be a man's obligation to lay down his life to oppose an ideal. And you don't have to hate your country because of who leads it, and what he is doing in it's name.

Not to mention, Max was a public figure with a lot of family, and a lot of friends. Max could protest and leave, and condemn a lot of people to a lot of pain.

Lead a rebellion against Fascism? Is that the where you set the bar? Do you have any idea what the average life expectancy was for a paratrooper on the Eastern Front? That was supposed to be a death sentence.

Had he left Germany, his family would have suffered and likely been executed.

The Raoul Wallenberg Foundation sees him as something of a hero...

I said could have, I never suggested he should have .
I like to think I would have the courage to hide those people ,and risk my own life in the process. But I don't know, probably I would not have had the balls he showed.

Max Schmelling should have done the Valkarie project all by himself and he would have succeeded at it, become leader of Germany, won WW2 for Germany in a huminatarian kind of way and got a rubber match with Joe Louis beating him again.

Why didn't he do that, what a ***** ass, he could have moved into Toker's Top 10 HW List if he did

so you feel louis should have paid taxes on the money he donated to the military? i understand he was probably being taxed on more than this but to be taxed on those donations is chicken ****.

No, I don't. We both know he was taxed on the rest of his career, however......are we to excuse that as well then?

the marginal tax rate was at 90% for part of his career. i hope you feel that's ridiculous. louis was not smart with his money that's for sure but the tax rate was ****ing unbelievable when he was champ.

People are scumbags, the world is a ****ed up place. Rich
assholes who rob steal and kill can get away with anything and get
every tax break possible. An American hero like Joe Louis gets
****ed over. That man had more heart, talent, determination, and
courage than most, not to mention he served in WW2. Sadly his
Race probably had a lot to do with it. Yeah weve come a long way,
but not really. I didnt know till recently Joe wound up doing wrestling and
bull**** just to survive. Sad, but he accomplished a hell of a lot in
his lifetime. Great contribution to the world.

Being a boxer isn't really a productive profession really...

Just two men punching each other, the only people less productive are we talking about men punching each other.

I just had this explained to me by my wife, who happens to be a tax law professor; I cannot claim to know this **** on my own.......

Apparently a marginal tax does not mean one pays 90% of their wages in taxes. If the tax rates are such (as a hypothetical example only):

    $8,000 - $15,000 = 10% tax
    $15,001 - $22,000 = 15% tax
    $22,001 - $30,000 = 20% tax
    $30,001 - $40,000 = 25% tax
    $40,001 - $55,000 = 30% tax

etc. etc.........what "marginal tax" means, given the example of this hypothetical chart, is that a guy making $50,000 a year would have to pay 10% of $8,000, plus 15% of $15,001, plus 20% of $22,001, plus 25% of $30,001, and so on.............you take the applicable tax rate and apply it to the low end of the scale in your bracket. By doing so, it averages out to a FAR lower number than 90%, should one have to get that high up the scale.

Anyway, I found that interesting and not the slightest bit ridiculous.

That's nice of you to say

It's spectacle. We aren't heroes. Joe Louis was a good man, though.
