Is it safe to say Wladimir got the worst chin of the top 10 heavyweights?

Toney is a middleweight who fought at heavy because he was out of shape. Peter still couldn't knock him out over 24 rounds. I dont need to take his opinion. I can see it for myself. And some people say Peter is one of Wlads best wins.

Yeah but his opinion is worth more than yours :good

I'm not discussing the quality of Wlad's resume, that's for another thread.

Wlad is in a class of his own with regards to having a weak chin ... Joe Louis is a distant second after him

Wlad is at the top of the worst chin list and at the bottom of the top 10 list ...

People forgot how dominant Wlad has been his entire life. We're talking damn near zero resistance. A once in a generation athlete with a ton of skills and dedication. I'm reasonably certain he never copped a beating till Purrity, and he explained that away to himself as being exhausted and trying to hard for the finish.

Sanders and Brewster hurt his confidence so badly because they destroyed his own illusion that he was unstoppable. The confidence he fought with against McCline can't be taught, but it's damn fragile.

He was a mess against Peter. That had nothing to do with chin. He was terrified of getting stopped like he was against Brewster. Look to the eyes, and look to the legs: If the legs are fine, he isn't hurt. If the eyes are big and wide, he's buzzed and shaken.

What do you make of him panicking like that? How does that come about, when you have that kind of experience as an amateur and as a pro that Wlad has?

Young Foreman could also look a bit clueless when hurt, but he hadn't Wlad's experience or refinement as a boxer. Wlad should have trained such things away long ago, it seems to me, but...

If you never encounter those problems, why train for it?
I think that's what he thought.

I think it's like being an extremely heavy puncher it's a double edged sword.
On one hand, you can KO anybody, on the other hand you might start to rely on just your power.
Razer Ruddock was pretty skilled before he fell in love with his power
Tua started getting lazy and started relying on his power to save him in the later rounds.
Foreman threw away his jab after the Frazier fight
    Lewis was also lazy
I think Wlad had the same problem.

When things have been so easy for so long, you also become worse.

(Wlad had never been stopped in the amateurs, maybe not even knocked down in 140 (134 wins) fights, Vitali had been stopped in the amateurs.)
One of them is known for his iron chin, the other for not taking a punch well.
Vitali knew the bitter taste of defeat already before his pro career, so he could prepare for it.
    Wlad simply didn't know.

I do... If greats like Jeffires and Johnson said he hit them the hardest... I reckon one clean haymaker from Joe would have Wlad on ***** street

I will only add that I don't know why people keep saying Joe had a solid chin.. he didn't.. he had great recovery powers.. NOT a great chin. They are not mutually inclusive in this case.
