My main issue with guys at this level is their inconsistency and by that I mean the amount of losses they suffer when prime.

A great w column is fantastic but I personally feel losses should be held against a fighter to get a full worth of the resume.

Yeah I'm taking Lennox over Tyson, Holyfield, Holmes & Marciano on my ATG HW list.

More on that later eh, McGrain? :D

No not really, with modern fighters you can watch the majority of losses and maken your own judgement as to their impact. With older fighters this isn't the case.

It could be some losses were close decisions it could be some were shut outs. Fight reports only give half a story and I have to personally assume any losses I can't see are legit.

The biggest negative for me are U avenged legitimate losses to non great fighters. The more of those the lower I regard the resume.

Well he's not even concensus top 5 in his own weight division; he doesn't have a great resume; his dominance, whilst impressive, is marred by those two losses to solid contenders.

Fair enough. I'll hold him back and we'll see who comes through the pipe.

You can argue Lennox higher on that list for sure - i'm not sure that would get him in to a p4p list anyway though. That is, you could make very reasonable primevprimve h2h arguments for Holyfield and Tyson both over Lennox and they're a "weight class" lower. You could also argue resume.

I think they're in the same sort of class as heavies, unquestionably, but Leiws being far the bigger man does matter.

First Top 100 ive seen without Lennox Lewis somewhere on it. I'd say his record is borderline great myself. Plus he beat every man he faced. Very rare indeed. He faced much better fighters than Marciano in my limited opinion. I suppose it does depend where you have him on an ATG HW list, i know you prefer Liston dont you ?

I just think that dominance you mention, the fact he beat everyone he faced and the manner in which he won alot of his big fights make him a lock for a Top 100. He's an ATG as far as im concerned.

He didnt just beat the guy's who beat him first either. Rahman in particular was annihilated.

I think he's an atg heavy too.

But it's a p4p list. Who did Lewis beat apart from old Holy (in itself arguable) that you'd rank pound for pound higher than Walcott or Charles (as heavies)?

Pound for pound, even a faded charles is better than all or most of what Lewis has.

Toss in the total domination of the field, and what have you got?

Ah well this is where you lose me as a valid contributer, my knowledge of pre war and early post to be fair is severely lacking.

I think he won both Holy fights handily though, particulary the first.

I know where you're coming from, if it's a true p4p list Lewis's size has to count against him.I was just surprised not to see him there.

Although he may creep on yet, you never know. He's garnered a little support already.

It's really been amazing to be fair.

I do think there are some anomalies but by and large the tiers are mega solid.

The one thing it highlights is just how little room there is in a top 100!
