The main card - the NBC Sports doubleheader - begins at 10:30pm EST.

Doors @ 7pm EST. "Big" undercard featuring "future stars". Hmm.

 

The undercard participants are getting introduced walking up on stage to scattered light applause.

 

All the undefeated prospects on the undercard are given speaking turns.

3-0 (2) Alan Gotay keeps it short and sweet and says he is eager to put on a great show.

3-0 (2) Anthony Karperis mimics him.

11-0 (6) Karl "Dynamite" Dargan says he's one of the best lightweights in the world and to check him out.

15-0 (5) Issouf Kinda promises in very broken English to put on a good show.

10-0 (8.) Cletus "The Hebrew Hammer" Seldin says he's planning to keep a very active schedule, back in the ring in May, and thanks everybody for continuing to come out and watch him progress.

Kathy Duva is up now.

She's talking up the co-feature.

She says that Jose Peralta Alejo has a breath-taking and inspiring story, having gone from living out of his car to now fighting on TV. Alejo's manager used to be Arturo Gatti's.

 

Jose Peralta Alejo says he is extremely excited to be here.

He says on Saturday night you will see two fighters. One will have beautiful talent; the other will be hungry.

He says it is his time to shine. He has been waiting for this opportunity and is so excited. He wants to show he's among the best at 140lbs. He reiterates how excited he is for the seventh time.

He says camp went great. He is working very hard.

He breaks into a giggling fit talking about how excited he is.

DeGuardia says Chris Algieri has been asking for this kind of step-up bout for a long time and has earned it.

He says Algieri is successful in many areas. He has a bachelors degree, and a Masters in clinical nutrition. He is an undefeated kickboxer in addition to being 15-0 in boxing.

 

Chris "The Pride of Huntington" Algieri thanks all the promoters as well as NBC.

He says it is an honor to appear on this show, with national exposure in his home town.

He says Alejo has come up from a lot and is hungry, but that he is just as driven although they come from different backgrounds and routes through life. He says to Alejo "Let's go, let's do this and keep our careers moving forward and have a real fight".

He says there is no additional pressure on him because of the national TV exposure, or being at home, or because of Alejo's street-hardened toughness. He is just going to do the Chris Algieri thing like always.

 

Neither Slava nor Malik are even there in Huntington yet, says DeGuardia! atsch They are coming "later in the week".
