Guerrero vs Aydin

Both WW. Aydin is as big and strong (but not as skilled, fast or athletic) as Berto.

 

Yeah, but I remember Guerrero doing the bullying. Aydin was pushing Guerrero back at times.

A similar gassing can be viewed within the Siri fight.

 

Some people cite the Aydin fight as a negative victory. I really don't. Guerrero stood and fought with one of the harder punchers at WW in his first fight there and won 7-8 rounds. At no point was he "getting his ass beat" or anything like that.

It's not about Guerrero getting passed Aydin that has people snickering. It's the fact that Aydin isn't even that good. Look what Soto-Karras just did to him.

 

He was unbeaten before his fight with Guerrero and maybe a new trainer in Adam Booth didn't work out too well for him against Soto-Karras.

 

If it was a close fight, then you may have a point, but it wasn't. The scores were awful, IMO.

 

Yeah but for someone to make such a huge jump in weight ( 2 divisions ) against a hard puncher, it is a decent victory.

 

Guerrero was a huge FW and SFW and a big LWW. I don't give the weight increase that much credit when the fighters frame easily accommodates it.

 

You are correct, his frame is big enough to accommodate the weight jump, but still he had never fought at that weight. He could of taken the easy route and fought a fighter that was not a natural WW but one that had gradualy gone up in weight. Not only that but, Aydin was in his prime and undefeated, in other word was very mentally fit and strong.

Some credit has to be given. At least I think so.

atsch Sometimes I wonder if some of you guys are just casual fans or die-hard boxing fanatics. You have to remember that this was Guerrero's first fight at WW, and he was coming off a long lay-off!! Not to mention that Aydin was ranked pretty high, so no matter what, it wasn't going to be a walk in the park for The Ghost.

Aydin looked like **** in that fight. Certainly better vs Geurrero but Guerrero looked like an entirely different fighter in his last fight. It was like he was channeling his inner Bam Bam or something.
