They underrated Vazquez highly. Who is too much for anyone at that weight only Burns maybe take some rounds off him. He can come again though
Are you really comparing Gesta and Khan? Khan is a 2 time world champ with wins over Kotelnik, Maidana and Judah. Gestas biggest win was over Ty Barnett
Not at all, just saying Gesta knocking down Khan is just as bad as saying Khan was Mannys sparring Partner not ****ing true at all.
Vazquez might as well be a marathon runner...Gesta looked like he didnt even want to be there. He didnt want to chase Vazquez, which is the only way you'll hit him. Disgraceful effort by Gesta in a CHAMPIONSHIP fight.
He was getting tagged, I wouldnt say he took a beating. I was familiar with Vazquez's style before the fight, it was just disturbing seeing Gesta standing there like a jackass doing nothing, I mean wtf how often do you get a tittle shot. I was expecting something along the lines of what Quintero did against Miguel.:bart
gesta did not look prepared to fight vasquez...parra should step back and let somebody else take over.
But yeah, it was a horrible match up with Vasquez and on top of that, Vasquez is the better fighter and on top of THAT Gesta's team had no real game plan or adjustments. Heard an interview with him prior to the fight and, asked about getting inside on Vasquez, he just said something like "there are certain ways to get inside against an outside fighter," which made it clear to me they weren't working hard to come up with tactics to solve the Vasquez puzzle. Not that the could have anyway, but obviously the stuff out of the first chapter in the textbook will never work against a PhD.
He was overhyped. He was always bound to get outboxed by a mover. But he's one of the best brawlers at 135-140. I'd like to see him fight Provodnikov or the loser of Rios-Alvarado 2.
