Ilie counters a wide overhand right from Erdos, uncharacteristically aggressive from the opening bell, with a straight right. Erdos pumps in a few right hand leads, very slow, missing as Ilie twists his flabby torso off to one side and counters with jabs. Ilie begins to land at will using the jab and 1-2 as Erdos keeps slapping and missing. Erdos is rocked, and Ilie glances over to either his corner or the ref - perhaps wondering if he is close to securing the stoppage and if not, why. Ilie keeps throwing shots and glancing over his shoulder. The ref doesn't look close to stepping in just yet. Erdos is still blocking, at least...and letting a few sloppy tosses go. Erdos now has a cut on the bridge of the nose as Ilie keeps chiseling away with the jab while moving and occasionally using semi-slick duck-and-roll moves under Erdos' predictable arm punches.

Well, Ilie is giving him no cause to wet it today. (except, you know, the slippery ring surface :!

His boy is in firm control and should be minutes away from a shutout being announced.

 

Round 8

Ilie is jabbing, hopping outside, flab jiggling, waiting a moment and springing overhand right traps on Erdos as he beelines for him. Erdos swings up wide from the hips and gets countered repeatedly with jabs between the eyes. Ilie keeps turning him and slapping him around the ear with hooks. They wrestle a bit, Ilie chest-bumping Erdos helplessly into the ropes while smothering his attempted combination attack. Triple jab by Ilie. Wide hook by Erdos, missing. 1-2 to the face by Ilie. Pull-counter slingshot right hand by Ilie. Fancy! Erdos is wobbling, but the bell is about to ring...

Erdos raises his arms to the crowd triumphantly. :huh


...because a feather-fisted guy didn't knock him out?
