Who do you wanna win, Bute or Pascal ?

Bute got off to such a bad start with me (the personal ref long count), but has grown on me over the years. He seems like a pretty solid guy (granting an immediate rematch) and fights in a more appealing style than Pascal.

 

bro , i was one of the most vocal supporters of Bute but after i watched several times how Bute was beaten by Froch , now i'm a little more realistic regarding Bute. Bute has nice skills but his chin and his defensive technique are weak. Maybe Pascal doesn't have many clean-legit wins but he fought with the best guys from his div. and he did good, as much as his physical condition allowed him (first 6 rounds). I reckon that Pascal is a puncher at 175 with good speed , chin and aggressivity , so Bute has to be careful and bring his "A" class footwork in the fight !:yep

 

Ive been a Bute fan for some time....

Dont really care for Jean Pascal, he just reminds me of a LHwt Jeff Lacy, in a weaker division. Only reason he got a belt. He's honestly not that well-skilled, and depends on his physical abilities to get through.... and then he gasses down the stretch.

Bute is much more skilled IMO, but could get caught with a Pascal hook.

Any way you slice it, Bute has the weakest string of defenses of any champion for over a few years, even worse than Sven Ottke managed.

And thats inexcusable, sorry.

It is very admirable that he stepped up, but don't tell me they didn't milk that IBF belt in Canada.

 

Worse than Ottke's string of defenses against journeymen and bums for his entire career? Number of defenses vs Bute's doesn't mean ****, if anything it's worse for not having taken any risk.

Bute won his title against Berio in 2007 and only defended it against three opponents before the top guys got locked up in the super six tournament in late 2009 until late 2011. Right after it was over, he fought Froch.

His defenses may have been fairly weak, but no, it's not 'inexcusable'. Ottke's sure as **** was though.

 

A man is in boxing mostly for money, its a living. Making a legacy for fans to dote on comes secondary. Aint gonna hold it against a guy who sticks in one place who can make good money against lower competition because of ticket sales.... a man's gotta make a living.

Its good that he did have confidence and stepped up too....

He complained about being locked out of the tournament and stuck in No Man's Land for 3 years....
Real problem is that his management over-priced him out of the Showtime's cap...
