Maybe that explains the loss to Vitaly, in which Hide was barely hit, and yet was "knocked out". Vitaly wouldn't have been in on it....but Hide was the favourite, and could well have just taken a dive without Viality knowing about it. If the money was bet on Klit to win, you wouldn't have needed Klit's cooperation.....only Herbie's.

I have always thought that fight was fishy. I was there, in about the 4th row, and all of the guys I was with at the time said the same thing......"Herbie was barely touched"

Lost all respect. Used to like him as a fighter, he's cast doubt in a lot Brit fights.

I love sports stars versions of money troubles...

His money troubles are struggling to maintain a millionaires lifestyle...

I would say Hide is full of ****, he doesn't have enough intelligence to be involved in anything like this. I can imagine him making some wild claims, getting people to hand over some money, then doing one of his disappearing acts.

Didn't he once leave the country over some stupid parking fines or something? He can't be taken seriously...

I remember watching it,wasn`t he down twice? I thought the punch looked legit and have seen fighters get stopped on ones that seemed lighter. I was not there though just watched on tv.

If he was to take a dive in the Vitali fight surely he would have just stayed down from the first knock down that came from a huge right.

This is a terrible bit of journalism. Entrapment, pure and simple.

There is no suggestion that he has ever fixed a fight but when approached by what would have appeared to be a rich, naive and stupid person that could be easily scammed then its understandable how a desperate man could attempt to take advantage.

All Hide had to do to pull this off was become a World Title Contender, that's all! Surely even he did not believe this was possible (only Audley Harrison is that dillusional)

Hide saw an opportunity to rob, whom he believed to be a gullible billionaire, but not being the sharpest tool got set up himself.

I'd pay that for something that doesn't contain 95% benzocaine, levamisole, and ephedrine but most people would rather take the pub grub and save the money safe in the knowledge that they have nothing better to compare it to!

Hide must be desperate and also quite stupid to put himself in such a situation.
No chance he threw the Vitali fight, he was on the canvas crying!

Good point, I think its more likely he was talking out of his arse but its still shameful.

  14. I wouldn't believe anything I read in The Sun. That's if I ever read anything in The Sun ever again in my entire life, which is unlikely.

But then I also wouldn't discount anything I heard about Herbie Hide, no matter how crazy.
