For me there is absolutely no reason for Price to change what he is intended to do. Obviously getting KO'd didnt help but some people get hit behind the ear and the body goes doolaly. Clearly the better boxer, and is still head and shoulders above most (for his experiance). Lucky shot. **** happens. 0 losses means ****. Replay the fight tomorrow and the odds would be the same. Weirdly I had 2 & 3rd round for Thompson in the £2 sweep. Every cloud....
The division will be wide open after Wlad has retired, so I still believe Price can win a world title. People talk about Pulev being the best heavyweight prospect but if they fought next month, I'd back Price to knock Pulev out convincingly, so I definitely wouldn't rule Price out in the long term. He needs to improve, yeah, and I think adding some muscle would help him, but even if he didn't, how many of the next crop of heavyweights are that much better than him? If he doesn't improve, some of those guys will knock him out but he's capable of knocking anyone in the world out too. Price needs to work on his defence. He's solid enough defensively but he needs to make that a strength. He needs to stay away from stupid shots, work on his blocking and improve his head movement. His chin issues will still be there but he can help his cause by getting into the gym and making his weaknesses harder to find. He might be 29 but he's only had 16 fights, and only boxed 41 rounds. His peak as a heavyweight could come in 6 years time or something like that. Heavyweights are aging a lot better now and for many out there, 29 is young, especially when they turn pro so late. It's not over for Price at all, and he can win a world title. He just needs to work hard in training, improve defensively and work his way back up.
"Big Fish, Little Pond" Price isn't going anywhere until he gets out of that little pond called the United Kingdom. And starts training and fighting the best the World has to offer.
He's had 16 fights and where exactly is he meant to go? Eastern Block? Although a rematch against Thompson in Washington would be a good deal for him. VERY good deal.
:deal The division is shocking. Eliminate the Ukranians...its only Price (even with the loss), Fury and that huge yank bloke (I forget his name). One of them will get a top 4 alphabet title in 2014. Its there on a plate.
They should pluck up a guy like Matt Godfrey or Neven Pajkic. Thirties, non-punchers, minor names (one fought Huck, one fought Tyson). Confidence builder with at least very low-level note. Then maybe Pianeta if things go as suspected there. Even old man McCall. Then, Charr is also a good option to go after. If he came through those well, then things are back to wide open for him.
I think the worse thing that could happen for Price is his team/him saying it was a lucky punch, papering over the flaws which lead to it landing.
Price has a puncher's chance against any fighter. Sadly his chin is made of wet toilet paper. Similar traits to Bruno, but big Frank was infinitely more talented. I think the scouser will be signing on soon. His reputation is in tatters!
I think an instant rematch would be the best option for Price to right this wrong, work on his flaws and come back stronger, he'll want it more this time. Can't see a rematch happening though.
Good in theory but he didn't do a lot wrong other than not being able to take a shot, there isn't a great deal you can do about that other than be more negative and patient but even that comes with added risks.
he can come back. V. Klitchko hasnt got a chin & he came back. His left hand needs to be glued to his chin when he isn't throwing it.
