Been back in the gym recently helping out someone who's posted on here from time to time. Being back in gym again makes me realize what i've been missing and once again appreciate the hard work these fighters go through.

It's so hard to get it back, Doesn't help when you never have it .

I've always said that boxing is great for the hood. It keeps kids out of trouble, and it is very good for fitness. A lot of people assume that if your in a boxing gym, you are there to fight. Not so. It is great for fitness and getting in shape. An hour in the gym on the bag, bit of skipping and bench steps, 30 mins of swimming, good diet, and you'll notice the benefits after a week and a half, if you push yourself. Once you start feeling fitter, go for a lighthearted jog on the way to the gym. Best of it is, it doesn't cost a lot compared to gym memberships, and you meet a lot of down to earth good local folk.

Even better if you have a well known pro fighter around the place!

Defo Craney it's positive for kids really is. You will always get the odd idiot who takes it to use on street but that's path of the course. Where you from?.

THIS! Boxing is the best sport wich you can do besides the normal strenght training! And it develops not only your body in a positiv way but also your spirit! Also you learn to respect the weaker AND the better opponent. One of the best sport to extend your own borders (spirit and body).
My favorite sport! Altough I Have phases where I cant stand the gym and the gloves anymore and I am more in to football for a time. But then it changes!

Had 21 amateur fights, . Not fought in a year now. Doubt I will fight again. The commitment and deduction required takes over your life.

I change between boxing and football as my favourite sport. Boxing was my favourite sport for the last 6 or 7 years but I'd say I'm back I to football more in the Kay year since my training has curtailed.

    Wolverhampton mate.

For me its a must for kids, because they learn to keep fit, its great for a lot of overweight kids because they really enjoy it. They seem to have this joy of putting on a pair of red boxing gloves, it makes them feel big. They love going every week on the same day. I remember fighting my uncle in the living room with a pair of gloves on, those were the days.

Of course, some abuse it outside of the gym, and this is the problem. If they are taught right, they wont use it unless they absolutely have to. And in some situations in life, knowing how to fight back is absolutely essential. And thats why I say its a must for kids, its self-defence. it's keeping them of the streets, and its keeping them fit.

At my local gym, they get all the kids in on a Thursday i think, if I remember rightly....and they are all buzzing, they get them all in the ring doing sit ups and what not.

Some of em leave f*cking knackerd! But they loved every minute of it. Using the equipment, putting the gloves on etc etc

But the main thing out of all this, is that it teaches them respect, and lets be honest, not every parent teaches their kids respect anymore. Its just a mobile phone or a laptop and f*ck off out my face.
