We disagree in regards to ATG ranking. JMM has consistently fought the best available competition whereas pac consistently fought specific opponents at specific points in their career. Oh, and pac refused OSDT. JMM, the clean fighter, is also clearly the better fighter. Capable of beating a prime manny (33 years old) when he was 39 years old (well, well, well past prime). JMM is without a doubt > manny in ATG rankings.
I agree with all of this except for the underlined and bolded... That is kinda being in denial about it.
Every fight Manny & Juan Manuel had have been contraversial The decisions could have gone either way till the KO BUT When the KO happened Paquaio was coming on strong taking over the fight. A KO like that could have hapened either way. Had Marquez been dominating the fight at the time of the KO then you could claim it was decisive. One more fight is a MUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Manny never fails to surprise.. if its over, he left it all in th ring and... it was floyd that ended up paying HIM money
I would say that JMM won in III 8-4. Manny looked pretty bad there. I scored Pac over Bradley 9-3, but he looked pretty bad for the first three rounds and nowhere close to any dominant form of his previous fights. JMM IV. He didn't just get put to sleep while throwing a lunging cave man punch, he also got dropped hard in round 3. People seem to forget. Compared to your average top 10 fighter, Manny hasn't looked like "horse****" in his last 3 fights. Relative to HIS career, he has 100% looked like "horse****" in his last 3 fights, but that is a complement to how great he was from 2004-2009. 1. Manny was not prime entering JMM IV. Not close to it. 2. No... just no. H2H and ATG are separate for a reason.
Meh, it depends. He was looking extremely good. Faster on his feet, explosive, etc. The KO might ruin his mental state in a potential rematch with Marquez, but we'll see against other competition.
Your right he didn't look his best but the 4th JMM fight he looked very good. He was winning ffs. Marquez just happens to be a monster who matches up perfectly against Manny. How many other 147s could beat the Manny of that night? (other than Floyd)
He needs to retire. The hate hes been getting on here is straight up crazy though. Not a lot of boxing fans on here i know that much
I wouldn't be able to list any I'd pick... There are some I think would have a decent chance for one reason or another and that'd be guys like Bradley, Matthysse, and Guerrero. But no, wouldn't pick any. As for him winning against JMM, it was one of the easiest fights ever to score. 47-46 Pacquiao thru 5 rounds. That's one point. Not a big deal, and technically he'd lost 2 of the last 3 rounds of those 5. I think people GREATLY undervalue the fact that JMM put Pacquiao on his ass hard in round 3.
Not undervalue in terms of points considering he came back and scored a KD though obviously JMM's was more devastating. I just think Manny looked terrific that fight and hopefully he does come back because I think he can shut a lot of people up who think he is shot or should retire. When you look that good despite being brutally KO'd against a beast like Marquez, coming back should not be an issue. He has been KO'd before and come back, be a shame to lose the 2nd best fighter of this generation.
