Funny how when footy players lose control they've "got issues they have to deal with" but anyone else just gets told "behave or **** off". Barba's got previous form: http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/queensland/bad-boy-bulldog-makes-homeless-claim-20100126-mv2g.html I'm sure I saw an article over the off-season about him being arrested for something else too... :think Face Of NRL/fullback's curse?
What is it with NRL players not being able to deal with their life? It must be so hard to play a game you love for a ****ing fortune, with all the relative fame and perks that come with it. I know I'd be suicidal.
Breakdown of a relationship, seperated from his kids, filling in his spare time drinking and gambling apparently. Hopefully now it's public he can sort himself out. But yeah I see your point I can certainly think of worse ways to earn big bucks than playing a game you love.
He's been in trouble before due to the booze, punching on with Idris - that was only ever gonna end up with one result atsch http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/bulldogs-scuffle-the-full-story/story-e6frexni-1225697662771
The problem is that these blokes live in a vaccum from an early age once they've been identified as stars of the future - they get what they want when they want and by the time they get old enough to develop attitude they're big and dangerous and start throwing their weight around when they don't get their own way. Then they have to learn that the same rules that apply to the rest of society also apply to them and find it hard to 'unlearn' what they've grown up thinking. It doesn't help these young blokes coming through seeing grubs like Inglis, Bird etc. get off with assaulting their girlfriends and be given another chance - apparently these days all you have to do is leave the country and play French Rugby before coming back like the Prodigal Son a year later and scoring a huge contract. Although Joel Monaghan seems to have stayed out of the country for longer than 1 season :yep
hopefully he only misses a few weeks Greenberg knows what he is doing... glad to see a players welfare coming before the game
No I mean Adam Reynolds, John Sutton, Nathan Merritt, Nathan Peats, Jason Clarke, Beau Champion, Dylan Farrell Thanks Bru, you skirt wearing sweaty jock fairy
