    I actually agree with this, and I'm not really criticising him. I just think that there may be a conscious decision being made here to change his career trajectory in order to preserve his earning potential.

    I think alot of boxers may overlook him because he defiantly is a bit of a high risk low reward fighter at the moment.

    He is a dangerous fighter with the skills to beat anyone in the division but he also can be beaten just as easy and has been KO'd a few times now..so its no real shock if he gets beat but is still a very good boxer that can beat most around his weight

    Would it not be fair to say that Khan is held to a different standard compared to Ortiz cos Khan is a bigger name at this stage compared to when Ortiz lost to Maidana?

    Also Ortiz whilst having some soft fights did become very active and thus wasn't judged harshly. If Khan had fought Molina in Dec then Diaz late Feb then had fights lined up for May and November people wouldn't care.

    No one's asking him to take on the division's best fighters but there's quite a few levels between Mattyhsse or Garcia and Julio Diaz.

    Ortiz's post-Maidana fights were on undercards, he wasn't headlining any shows.

    I was using Ortiz for illustrative purposes only, I was being lazy as his was the first name that popped into my head.

    My point still stands I think that Khan is held to a different standard compared to fighters in a similar position and at a similar stage of their career.

    Fair point by Ishy, if this was an undercard fight I doubt people would care.

    This is not the type of fight that should be headlining shows.

    Its an OK fight. Too bad they couldn't reach a deal with Lopez. Well Julio Diaz is about 5ft 9 same height as Khan and a welterweight some power. Diaz is 33 not quite old, certainly past it.

    Garcia is defending a world title against Judah now 35, the same Judah that Khan easily disposed of 2 years ago when people were calling Judah old at 33.

    Can't just look at age to see if a fighter's washed up or not. Ricky Hatton - washed up at 31/32, Sergio Martinez - still going strong at 38.

    I couldn't care right now. I want Amir to learn and improve.

    Fact is, if he was fighting Shawn Porter, I guarantee people wouldn't mind as much, but because most of the people who criticise just look at Julio's record on paper, his losses particularly, they're quick to make judgement.

    It doesn't change the fact that Diaz is past it and has been stopped 5 times. He's clearly not the type of fighter who will seriously test Khan at this point.

    Normally I wouldn't mind these opponent choices so much because all fighters need some confidence building W's after they've suffered a very bad loss. It's just the way he and Golden Boy bang on, you'd think he was still unified world champion with his attitude. Many were hoping that the Garcia loss would finally make Amir open his bloody eyes and realise that he wasn't the complete fighter like he though he was. The Prescott loss did that originally, he sat down and realised where he'd gone wrong and worked hard to rectify it and became a great fighter in the process. Just Freddie Roach and Oscar De La Hoya blew smoke up his arse and allowed him to become deluded in his abilities again.. He's still paddling the "Danny Garcia was lucky if we fought again now I'd destroy him" talk even though Garcia out-smarted him and put him flat on his arse.

    Also, ow he can accuse Kell Brook of not fighting anyone decent or challenging when he's facing Carlos Molina and an old man in Julio Diaz? That's very hypocritical too. Carson Jones is harder fight than any of those two at this point so get off you high horse Amir. Khan needs to just get his head down and concentrate on improving and forget about Garcia and others for now. If a rematch happens down the line then it happens, for now he should focus on getting his career back on track and stop spouting about what a level above everyone else he is.
