It was a boring slow fight compared to their other fights, Marquez sometimes didnt' do much himself but back up and wait.

Marquez won it for sure, don't get me wrong, but it was too slow tempo and uneventful to be the JMM masterclass you make out it was - not to mention Marquez took some hits as well as giving some out :roll:

he cleaned out the competition at WW, and he fought guys out weighing him by 10-20 lbs. maybe he got a little over rated by his fans when they started saying he was the goat, but hes not a hypejob

 

With the right promoter, and with a little bit of corruption you can make someone an 8 division titlist.

 

He's a hypejob. I he gets credit for beating MAB, gets way too much credit for his wins over Morales, his fake wins over JMM, his wins over a shot Mosley, Margarito and De La Hoya.

Cotto had also recently been beat down and had a extremely tough soemwhat controversial fight against Clottey.

Clottey is no A level fighter.

I give him full credit for beating a past prime MAB, I give him credit for KTFO Hatton, even though Hatton had also seen his best days behind him.

Bob Arum saw a huge market for Pacquiao, and he worked his magic.

How anyone can fight mostly past prime fighters and get top level credit is being HYPED.

 

ummm.... okay ... but 6 of those divisions are pretty legit titles. Gatti - Gamache is all we need to know about what happens when you fight a guy with 20 lbs functional weight advantage even if he has limited skills. Pac is a great fighter. Gamache was 55-4 with 38 kos, and two of his losses were JCC and Gatti - that's a good fighter ... and he was winning rounds against Chavez, too. But that size differential almost killed him.

With corruption you can make a man a world champion now, but if he sucks someone will beat him sooner rather than later. And a six or seven times champion against elite or past it elite competition? Even with favorable matchmaking he's still a great fighter. He sucks against JMM. Oh well.
There's always someone with your number. there's a reason guys like Nate campbell spoil young hopeful's dreams - and past it elites are still great fighters.

 

yet we all know that KOing Pac is actually the highlight and crowning achievement of JMM's career ... hmmm.

 

Pac was a good fighter. But there is no denying he received his status with a lot of help.

How can he get away with avoiding the other "top" fighter by refusing random drug testing?

Why fight Mosley when they did? Why fight Cotto when they did, why Margarito when they did, why David Diaz out of all champions? Why the catchweights? Why avoid your biggest pay day by far over random testing?

 

Manny never declined random drug testing. Matter of fact, pac agreed to random urine tests all the way up to the day of the fight. It was really just the strange demand Floyd had with blood tests all the way up to the day of the fight that Pac did not agree with. Pac had his own requests that Floyd rejected in his drug test requirements. Everything else the mutually agreed to.

Pac fought the best and did extremely well. You can inject all the "whys" and "what ifs" to discredit a truly hall of fame worthy resume if you're compelled to do so...but it's painfully clear that you won't ever give him credit. What you're doing is what every great had to deal with. Unfair criticism and comes with the territory. Luckily, history won't throw in personal feelings or bias when reflecting on Manny's legacy.

 

I honestly don't kinow how anyone can call Fight III "boring".

Sure, it was slower than the other 3 fights, but none the less it was a great display of technical skill (especially from JMM, who put on a masterclass performance). I really enjoy watching that fight very much...that is until the decision is announced. :-(

Outboxed in by JMM, a fighter he could never beat anyway.
busted up Bradley, was one of the best at 140 and seems to carry that at 147.
Knocked out by JMM in the fourth fight

Notice a pattern? If you put Pac in against a fighter that neither doesnt possess excellent boxing ability, nor the ability to fight back properly, Pacquiao does damn well
His speed and footwork is still one of the best today, I dont see why he should retire on such a low note when he can easily climb back up

 

Compared to the other fights dude - do people on this board not read before replying? LOL it was still a great fight but lacked the excitement and action of the previous 2 fights - check what I posted :hey
