pacquiao fans fail can't understand that perceptions change based on what has happened most recently.

The reason his margarito bout was a cherry pick is based off two reasons. First off, manny already proved how capable he can be against larger opponents. Secondly, he waited for some real advantageous circumstances before making this fight.

That whole I couldn't imagine him beating marg 5 years ago bull**** holds no weight

I bring him up because he's one of the few that moved up anywhere close as far as Pac, for comparison sake. He's a 2x SWW champ that'll probably once again pass on the chance to legitimize his SWW belt. Why would I bring up Martinez or Ward, who haven't gone up hardly at all?

I agree his welter run wasn't special in itself. What made it special is that it happened in his 7th division. You know full well this was unthinkable before DLH.

You watched the fight, what did Marg fail to bring to the show, that he normally would? Other than the wraps of course.

But what's you're saying is, Duran beating Barkley, big deal. He already proved he can stay with a big guy vs Hagler.

Great, hell no. Tho it is still pretty historical. Had he beat Floyd at 147 then yea, no denying it was great. But it still is significant. "Great" gets thrown around too much. Leonard and Robinson's runs now those were ****in great.

yeah but Barkley and Hagler had legit wins at MW when Duran moved up to fight them. What big win at 154 did Margarito have ? :blood

The most difficult concept for pacquiao fans to grasp. Barkley was legit at 160 and just come off the upset of the year by knocking out ATG Thomas Hearns.

margarito came into the pacquiao fight suffering a one sided ass beating from Shane, a one year layoff, and an irrelevant win.

Did he look any worse in the ring than for any of his welter bouts? Chin weaker, no workrate, gunshy, what?

Don't get me wrong, he was far from a legit SWW contender, and that belt was a joke, but Marg was still a very tough night's work for a guy Pac's size. See SWW champ Cotto next asking to defend his own belt at a CW versus a wrecked one eyed version of him.

Just think of it as a welter fight with the bigger guy allowed a 3lb leeway. Yes there's the bogus belt, but boxing is full of them. Is a 150 Marg worse than a 147 Marg? Probably not, unless his chin is cracked. Didn't look cracked at all, maybe I needed to be wearing your glasses?

I actually think Pac took it easy on him and carried him. He could have finished him a few times later on IMO

regardless, Margarito is a never-was in boxing and the W doesn't mean much at all.

He did carry him for the last 2 rounds, but that was Pac's physically toughest fight lately, till JMM 4 at least. Nobody's saying Marg is HOF, just a guy real tough to get past even for true welters, much less a tiny one. Think of Cotto vs Bika, it's probably a comparable weight difference fight night.

No way was Margarito as tough as Marquez III or Bradley. They took it to him a lot more than Margarito did.

Cotto-Bika? Margo was pretty much done and recently ko'd before facing Pacman. Just goes to show how he was able to defeat bigger, albeit "damaged" fighters and couldn't defeat smaller although undamaged fighters like Jmm and Bradley who never been ko'd.

What did you see in that fight that made you think that?
