An often debated subject on this site is Mayweather choosing to fight Carlos Baldomir rather than Antonio Margarito in November of 2006.

So my question to you: Who had the better single victory between Margarito and Baldomir in their career up until that point in time? "That point" would be November 2006.

    ---

Was it Carlos Baldomir over WBC/lineal champ Zab Judah (34-2)?

Or does Antonio Margarito have the better single victory over Kermit Cintron (24-0)?

Please note if you disagree with my choice of who their best victory was up through that point.

I've been saying it again and again

    Carlos Baldomir

    1. He was the lineal champion at 147
    Undefeated for 8 years
Had wins over Zab (A great fighter at that time barring a loss to Tsuyu and was the Unified champion when he fought him), Gatti, Clottey
Baldomir's run was actually EXTREMELY impressive at that time. Although his career didn't end up too well after that. The run leading up to the fight with Floyd was definitely noteworthy, it was mightily impressive.

Margarito at that time hadn't beaten anyone except CINTRON. He was never in a position to get to Floyd. He couldn't string together a series of good wins and coming off a recent loss against Santos. Let's be honest, he was just beating WBO mandatories at that time, his level of competition was **** poor.

The only reason why people say Floyd ducked him was cuz Arum was saying it at that time. Rofl. Cuz Floyd left his ass

The only time Margarito was good to face Floyd, he then goes to lose to Paul Williams. Fact.

Mayweather was scared shitless of Tony Margarito after he saw what he did to Cotto
Same goes for DelaHoya. They couldnt beat him in ring so had to conspire to get rid of him Viva Tijuana Tornadu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Both Margarito and Cintron would have beat up on Carlos Baldomir. Margarito would have beaten Judah if he had gotten the chance. Mayweather ducked Margarito. It's that plain and simple. There will be FMJ fans coming on here and try and spin it multiple ways, but the bottom line is that FMJ has CONSISTENTLY found avenues to duck certain fighters. And for the record, I am not saying Margarito would have beaten FMJ, but he would have pushed him hard if they had ever fought.

How exactly was there a duck? Baldomir was a better fight at that point (Much more accomplished) while Margarito came off a recent loss vs Santos and had no noteworthy wins besides Cintron.

The only time Margarito was in line to face Floyd, he goes and loses to Paul Williams. And this was 2 months after Oscar/Mayweather

When was there a duck? Please state the time so I can completely state facts to disprove it.

    I want the year, month.

Baldomir obviously. And he did it as the underdog. He also beat Clottey (Clottey was going to lose the decision)

After Margarito smashed Cotto they offered floyd $8 mil to fight Margarito. Floyd ducked Margarito & fought Baldimir for far less $$$$
because he knew to fight Margarito his 0 was GONE!!!!!!!!!!!

What the ****? Margarito beat Cotto in 2008!

Baldomir fought Floyd in 2006, you ******.

    Learn your dates/facts.

Baldomir at 2006 was much more accomplished than Margarito. Fact.

Margarito was coming off a loss vs Santos. Baldomir was coming off a 21 win streak, 6 years unbeaten. Was the lineal champ.
