As stated in Ali's autobiography, a little bit after the Ali - Frazier fight Wilt Chamberlain and Ali finally agreed to set up a match probably for the summer of 1971. When they were ready to sign the contract Wilt got scared and decided against it. He began training with Cus'DAmato for a bit, rumors about them fighting began in about 1966, if they fought how would the match go, and what round would Ali win, i believe no question Ali would win but what do u guys think?

Ali would've stopped him within 5 rounds after playing with him a bit. Wilt would've been in way over his head and I think he came to realize this which is why the fight never came off. Jim Brown thought he could do well in the ring until he tried to land on Ali one day in a park and only hit air. Different reflexes, different sports.

I heard Jim Brown thought he could do it and Ali explained it was a different sport. Brown sport of said, "What do you mean?' And Ali proceeded to slap him with a three punch combination he didn't even see coming. Brown thought twice about trying boxing after that.

Kareem Abdul Jabbar later said that he was glad Wilt and Ali never fought. Not just because Chamberlain wouldve been emabarassed but he didnt want to see all that ego in one ring.

Ali would've destroyed Wilt at any moment he chose too. Chamberlain seems like one of those guys who thinks he could pick up any sport and be excellent at it.

It's been proven that all the best potential boxers are in other sports.

Boxing is probably one of the few that he couldnt.

He was a helluva an athlete though. His physical strength was legendary.

    Its a two- way street.

Did I ever tell you how fast Jim Jeffries could run 100yards with a Bull Moose on his back?
He also lifted a train full of people back on its tracks, and could jump 8ft high from a standing start.
What a loss to the Olympics.:patsch

There`s a funny story I heard years ago on this. They were together during the talk of acually trying to make this happen. And the people involved told Ali,`don`t start riding him until we get the contracts signed`. They figured that if Ali opened up his brand of trash talking and needling on Wilt... So, Ali is already in the room when wWilt walks in. And the story goes, Wilt walks in and Ali starts with, `Timber` !!! Then Wilt goes away and shortly after it`s announced no fight... Which was good for Wilt, saved him an embarrasing ass whipping.Does anyone rememeber when Too Tall Jones fought Yaqui Meneses ??
