well he is a small welterweight. Whether he can make 140 is a different argument, but he is small for a welterweight. At the 30 day weighin for the Ortiz fight, he was already 149.5 pounds.

I'd say an average sized welterweight weighs around 155 pounds the day of the fight

Wrong you mean it would be a favorable style match up. A guy with slow hands and feet no jab with **** defense would be a stylistic wet dream for a sharpshooter like PBF.:deal

Floyd fans like to throw red herrings. Margo was available all the way up to 08 . He was one of the top WW's at that point, and Floyd didn't fight him. He opted to take on junior ww's, lightweights, and take retirements when the division was smoking hot.

I love it how people like to re-write history. when Floyd moved up he fought Zab and people said he was ducking baldy . . . so he fought baldy. after the Baldy fight he said that he was getting worn down and it was one more fight and he was done. he fought two fights (Oscar and Hatton) and made a **** load of money. I cannot blame any fighter who uses what he got to make as much as he can . . . most fighters die broke (live broke).

the Baldy fight made 100x more sense than margo. first, Baldy was the lineal champ and was ranked number one in the division at the time. second, he did not have to deal with uncle bob. third, Margo was a nobody and everyone would shout "why did he duck baldy". Finally, the money was the same and there was no way he could get screwed by that **** Arum.

remember, PBF ultimate goal was to get to Oscar . . . and we all know why that was such a great idea

Baldomir did'nt have the size, and workrate Margarito had.
The most important factor is Margarito's ability to take shots flush and the face and not be dettered form keeping up his workrate and still fire shots as if he had'nt taken the shots.

A fighter like Baldomir takes a flush shot and he pauses. Margarito smiles and keeps coming.

Margarito took the best Paul Williams had to offer and was'nt dettered form coming foward and making the fight very competitive.
Williams is a much harder puncher than Mayweather, so its hard to see anything Mayweather can do to deter Margarito from stalking and advancing.

The major key here is that Margarito had workrate. He was a heavy handed volume puncher and Mayweather keeps his volume at a minumum.

There is no doubt in my mind that if Mayweather was not powerful enough to get Margarito's respect with single shots, Mayweather was going to have a problem trying to fend off Margarito.

Shots to the elbows, arms, shoulders, chest, anywhere in the body had an effect on the body as well. Margarito was a heavy handed punching welterweight. Those shots had all the potential to cause Mayweather problems even when not landing flush on the facial area.

Its very well possible Margarito may have decisioned Mayweather and sheer volume. A past it DLH himself who's not really a volume puncher almost nearly did it! :deal

    39- Baldomir over Zab
    20- Margarito over Cintron

So, one third of the voters are trolling, it would seem...
