As far as Margarito goes, Floyd told him to his face that he would fight him. He looked terrified while in his presence, but did say that they would fight. Baldomir was the real champ and again, Margarito was a cheater so I am GLAD he did not fight him. Back then, we did not know he was a cheater, so yes, Floyd should have fought him.

I think you are mistaken about Cotto. Cotto stated back then that he was ready to fight Mayweather or anyone else. He recently stated that he didn't press Arum hard to make the fight. He didn't say he wasn't ready. There is a difference. Either way, a lot of great champions, which Mayweather is, would have wanted to fight their #1 contender, especially when he is undefeated and has a name. Not Money May.

Ok, we agree on Paul, so no argument there.

Ok, so he offered Manny a flat fee to face him. Do you think any fighter in Pacquiao's shoes would have accepted that with no PPV cut? That is ridiculous! Pacquiao's team turned around and made a similar offer to Floyd, obviously just to make a point. It is flat out disrespectful to make these types of offers to either fighter. 50/50 was fair and Floyd had agreed to that previously. Manny agreed to all of Floyd's demands, but then it became something else. He made excuses and wanted no part of Manny, a fighter that I am sure he would have defeated. Maybe Floyd wasn't so sure, I don't know. They are both partially to blame, but only an idiot can't see that Pacquiao bent over backwards to try to make that fight. Floyd is the biggest reason it didn't happen, followed by Bob Arum.

As far as your point of Pacquiao "turning down" the offer. No, they just didn't agree on the cut off date for the testing. It was a matter of 10 days, which is ridiculous on both of their parts. Again, they are both to blame, but Floyd is, by far the one most responsible for the fight not happening. Floyd is the classic reluctant warrior. If you are able to get him in the ring, he has as much heart as anyone. Getting him in the ring with someone he perceives as a challenge, that is the hard part.

Because great fighters never handpicked their opponents or fought once a year !

There have been multiple division champs in the sport of boxing ! Many of the greatest fighters took on the best and didn't care about padding their records !

Its only easy if you cherry pick !

By beating other quality fighters. Losing and coming back and making you feel fuzzy inside because they overcame that is not a pre-requisite for greatness.

If Floyd has 8 world titles then something is wrong with boxing. Simply, he has not fought the best fighters he could and has handpicked. That hurts his legacy. He had to the potential, but he didn't do it.

With all the titles now and the way he has handpicked, he is not an ATG fighter. He is a Hall of Fame fighter, but to not have fought Manny when he could have and avoided the tough fighters, it hurts his legacy. And I always thought he had the potential to outbox Manny easily or even stop him. But Floyd's heart was not in it to take the risk.

He didn't beat the best quality fighters and he didn't look for the best competition. He looked to fight guys he knew he could beat who had a biggest names and with the least chance to beat him. How is that a really great fighter? Guerrero is not great and Floyd at this stage in his career had Manny to fight and Canelo. So he picks Guerrero. His handpicking is so obvious. When Guerrero won his last fight I knew Floyd would fight him because that is exactly the fighter he wants. Like Ortiz. Because it is a fight he can win. Guerrero wins his fights by edging decisions . That is what handpicking is. Floyd's zero is about good handpicking. You think Ray Leonard or Hearns or Duran or Hagler handpicked? They had losses. They didn't.

The only really good fighters in that list are Cotto, Oscar and Genaro. And all were older when he beat them. Those 3 were good, and Oscar and Genaro great. But Floyd fought them later, and the guys Floyd is fighting now are handpicked and beatable. Genaro Hernandez is one of my favorite fighters ever. I saw him fight at the Forum in 1991 before I knew who he was. He was on an undercard fight. I told my friend that guy there is a fighter all young fighters should watch and study. He knows distance and keeping range and being economical. What a fighter Genaro was.

he is handpicking now, and that saying #1 champ means what? I see what you are saying, but none of those guys when they fought Floyd were great champions. Cotto was old and was beaten 3 times by the time Floyd fought him last year, and Trout exposed Cotto as old and past his prime.. Mosley was old also. Castillo was never great, and Corrales is not that great either. How are those guys top fighters? They were good and exciting, but when he fought them was later. Let's look at Manny when he beat Oscar and Morales and Barrera and Marquez Margarito. and younger Cotto, Clottey and this when he was older. There is no way we can compare the resume of Floyd and Manny. Manny fought better guys more often and when they were good.
