Bellew vs Braehmer nominated for the European title

    Over on the scene.

    Braehmer is mandatory for Cleverly now and Bellew will become mandatory for Dawson.

    Maybe Bellew could fight for the vacant title to keep busy if Dawson is fighting in May/June.

    If Tony gets past Chilemba, I'm guessing the Dawson fight won't happen until around September/Oct/Nov time. But I don't see the point in getting the EU title.. Even so like Brook & the IBF, if he's mandatory can he face anyone before Dawson? If he can then I'd suggest a warm-up southpaw.. :bbb

    why would he risk a fight against someone dangerous when hes a mando.pointless in my opinion as if he wins then fights for world title in next fight he will have to vacate euro belt anyway

    It would be more a stupid move for Braehmer than for Bellew.

    Bellew needs another fight before Dawson after Chilemba IMO, ideally against a good opponent. Fighting for the vacant European, provided that Braehmer vacates as he looks like doing so, could be worthwile for him.

    Defo agree. This fight is unlikely but it would be great for Tony if were made after the Chilemba fight. Braehmer is another very good fighter and it would be another good test for him. Winning the European title would be good for him to have on his record too. Both seem to have their hearts set on challenging for world titles soon though so both will likely bypass the fight. If I were Bellew and Matchroom though I'd try to make it providing he beats Chilemba as another solid opponent before actually stepping up to fight Chad will do him no harm at all. Fighters need tough tests to improve themselves.

    Screw that, Braehmer isma southpaw, would be a good fight but never going to happen!

    This would be a great fight. Problem is that Bellew would have to go to Germany and why would he?

    EBU title will carry more money than that WBC Bronze title he is fighting for.

    It's a final eliminator, winner fights Dawson. If Dawson defends around May/June it means Tony wouldn't fight him until November(if he wins)? If he could fight for a vacant title (Brahmer vacates to fight Cleverly) around late June/Early July that would be another good warm up

    another final eliminator?!

    the WBC don't abide by their rules, I'd be gob smacked if the winner faces Dawson in their next fight.

    This has been his only Final eliminator, the winner becomes Dawson's mandatory (if WBC choose to imply it), but they only don't seem to apply mandatories if there is big money to be made elsewhere
