How would Solis have done at cruiserweight? I think he could have dominated the division, instead he balooned and campaigned at heavyweight. Olympic gold medallist & 3 time world amateur champion. Here is a video of Solis beating Haye in 2001 at 200lbs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVedVsgpwes
Would have been the best fighter in the division by quite some distance, pity he loves the burgers too much the overweight tit.
He would struggle to make the weight, that's for sure. Apparently it was hard for him to make the weight when he was 21 so imagine how it would be at 31. If he could make the weight, then his pedigree and reach would have given him a leg up.
He is a big guy. Just by running he could cut down to CW but it seems like he does not train between fights. Bernard Hopkins runs all the time and thats why he was able to make MW so easy for so many years.
Interesting question since he fought under 200 for most of his amateur career. If he had the discipline to stay under the cruiserweight limit, he likely would have been the class of the division.
Exactly, he was a champ at super heavy in addition to heavy in the amateurs. Which suggests that if Solis had been 225-235 in his prime he would have been a serious threat to K2. I think he'd have a hard time making cruiserweight as a 30 year old and would probably have to come in really skinny to make the weight.
