Castillo and Corrales were awesome fighters. And Floyd beat them as greater fighters should.

It's not like he got knocked the hell out like when your boy Hearns tried to cherrypick Barkley now is it?

and  @ Clottey and Margarito. Who the hell are they? Corrales and Castillo are light years ahead of those two bums. Morales was past it as well and he still whipped Manny's ass.

Exactly how great Mayweather is, is up for debate. Not the issue. You said "how can a fighter be great if they haven't come back from a loss and proven they can overcome adversity?" So I answered you: by beating quality fighters. The 0 by itself is not indicative of greatness, nor is it indicative of weak competition.

He lost to Castillo. He needed a gift decision. Not that it hasn't happened to great fighters if course most have received a gift decision sometime or another. The "0" is really not important at all. The "0" doesn't make anyone great it's who they fought.

It's not that it isn't great or meaningless. Most people just have a problem with him calling himself the GOAT just because he's never been defeated as a pro. In my book his 0 is pretty impressive - not super extraordinary - but something to be proud of. He has a far better resume than, say, Canelo or Golovkin. When you factor in Floyd's age, his level of competition (could be better but still good), long layoffs, possible robberies due to bad judging, he has a damn good legacy considering he's never been beaten (Castillo aside). Again, could be better however a B or B- is still better than a C, D, and F.

A lot of hate. Having the 0 is great due to he has beaten, problem is people always tend to try bring down others. No matter who he fights Floyd will get some ish. Same thing happened when the Rock retired. All of a sudden despite beating all available at the time, he now becomes the guy who ducked Patterson, and fought old men. It happens to all the greats. Floyd seems to rub people the wrong way. I will say this though his only way of getting in the top 10 is to beat Martinez for the 160 title and stay undefeated. But even if he doesn't do that he's still top 20 ATG.

If it wasn't a great achievement all fighters would have a similar record. Fact is, he might be safely picking opponents here and there but if he didn't have his great ring ability they wouldn't be as safe as people think.

Corrales and Castillo were good fighters, but they were not that great of fighters. Good fighter who had heart and had a great fight but not fighters who could compete in any era. Floyd was too skilled for them. And I am not talking about Floyd's skills as being bad, I always said he had great skills and would have beaten Pacman, but he didn't have the courage to risk having a loss. What great fighters will not fight a superfight to avoid a loss? And I think Margarito was better than Corrale or Castillo. Clottey? about that the same. I think Clottey p4p was better than Castillo. I never thought much about Castillo. I did like Corrales, and he had an exciting style and had a lot of heart. But neither guy is hall of fame.
If you want to talk about Hearns, Hearns had to fight the best guys to win titles. Mayweather cannot compare his resume to Cuevas,Benitez,Leonard,Hagler,Duran,Hill. Cuevas had 11 title defenses. Tommy knocked him out in 2 to win his first title. Tommy had to beat Benitez to win his second title.. won a decision outboxing him with a hurt right hand. Virgil Hill 10 title defenses and undefeated. He fought the best. That is why Tommy and Ray will be remembered more than Floyd. Tommy didn't cherrypick Barkley, Barkley became the number one contender when he beat Olajide in April of 1988 at MSG, then he fought Tommy in June of 1988. And Barkley was dangerous and Tommy fought him.

people know what I think about Marquez. I think he was a Hall of Fame level. but not ATG. Knocking out Manny helps his legacy, yet Manny was diminished, but a great win. Any fighter can knock out another fighter if he fights them 4 times and that greater fighter like Manny had fought better guys for years and was wearing out. As a matter of fact. Manny was about to stop Marquez same as Hearns was about to stop Barkley in the first fight, but when a guy is loading up and hitting a guy at will he is relaxed, and both Hearns and Pacman got hit when they were not expecting it. Everytime a fighter is landing easily on a guy who can punch I always get nervous.

Cuevas was trash dude. So it's ok for Hearns to fight the #1 contenders and get knocked out by a fighter like Barkley but if Floyd does it he is handpicking

Stick to trolling Duran threads in Classic.

Sorry I didn't see this post earlier to respond. No matter how much Barkley is mentioned, Floyd will never reach the Hearns level of significance in boxing? Why? Because he never fought the superfights to be remembered in that way. You have to fight superfights and you have to look for the great fights and fight them. Let's eliminate the greatness aspect, Floyd is now known as the biggest cherrypicker in boxing history. You really think that reputation is going to go away because he fights Guerrero or any other guy? He did not fight Pacman when he could, which is significant. Insulting Hearns because I made this statement does not make the statement false since I am not the only person on here who thinks Floyd avoided Manny and other top fighters to preserve his undefeated record and losing. He is a good fighter and being undefeated with the guys he fought is good, but he has cherrypicked around fighting big fights where he could have been challenged. And for a top fighter like Floyd to do that affects his legacy. He will forever be known as the biggest cherrypicker in the history of boxing. I did not make it up, other did and that is his reputation. He has even defended his cherrypicking.
